Can you try your sim in another phone as the update may have not caused the current issue. If the sim works in another oho e ok you could then have the iPhone looked at an Apple Store via a https://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/ appointment.
Or if you don't have a local store then pop into your local Vodafone store and they may let you try your sim in a store phone.
Also check your masts.
