I have a VSS v1 and need to have this de-registered.
How do I get this de-registered *without* having to do this online?
I am unable to de-activate online, as the VSS cannot connect properly and is current inactive on my account!
Thanks.

Hi mhcb8,
If you post your serial number in this thread one of the eForum team will be able to sort out the registration for you.
They will need to contact you via PM to confirm some account details before they can do it though so sit tight they will get in touch as soon as they can.

Thanks for the reply.
How can I re-activate it?
I want to give the device to someone else, but at the moment I am stuck in limbo!
It won't connect online - most likely for the same reason?

Thanks, Ben.
Are you saying that if you do not use the VSS v1 (that cost £100 or so at the time) it will stop working?
I don't ever remember reading that in the sales process and the disabling of the device does not sound very fair or proper.
I have just visited the Vodafone website and read the T&Cs (here), which state the following:
If you don’t make use of the Sure Signal Service for a period of 3 months or more, we may place a bar against your future use of the Sure Signal Service. If this happens, you’ll need to contact us to discuss lifting the bar on your Sure Signal Device.
What can I do to resolve this issue / have a replacement?
Many thanks for your help,
Sam

Hi Sam,
Thanks for getting back. To confirm, similar to PAYG SIM cards, after 3 months an unused unit will go into 'sleep' mode. These can be reactivated remotely, however at 6 months onwards for security reasons the units will 'hibernate'. At this point I'm afraid they are unable to be reactivated at all. This is covered in the paperwork sent out with all three versions of Sure Signal that have been released so far.
I can appreciate that the original device retailed from £25 to £60 (only the 3rd iteration has ever cost £100), however this is standard practice for the femtocell hardware. I'm sure you can understand that the likelihood of a customer not using their unit for over 6 months and still needing future use from it is exceptionally rare.
You're welcome to visit a Vodafone store or email us here to look at repair options, however as the 24 month warranty will have likely expired there may be a small charge involved for the work needed.
Cheers, Ben
