Dell Mini 10 - When I Launch Vodafone Mobile Connect I Get 'Device Turned Off'

Hi to all,

I wonder if anyone can help me with my Dell Mini 10?

I am having problems connecting to the internet using Vodafone.

When ever i launch Vodafone i can get no signal and the screnn says "device turned off".

I have no problem connecting to the household internet or when in free wifi areas.

I am running:

Windows xp
Vodafone Mobile Connect 9.3.3.10523
Modem - Dell Wireless 5530 HSPA Mobile Broadband Minicard Modem. (all Internal i take it).

I have tried now for 6 days so far to resolve this issue, this is my last option before returning the machine and cancelling my contract, Dell and Vodafone seem to be saying it's the other ones responsibility.

Hi there traxntrailz!

Hmm... quite an issue you have there :(

It could genuinely be that there is a fault with your computer hardware, but beyond this, can you let us know the below please:

- Can you try the SIM card in a mobile phone? Does it pick up signal? If not, then we'll need to replace that.

- What's in your Start > Control Panel > Modems section? You should just have the internal as one entry. Please delete any duplicates and restart.

- If you go to Device Manager (Control Panel, again), please look for Network Devices. Any yellow exclamation or question marks next to the profile? If so, that may indicate a driver error.

Please let us know how you get on with the above - once we know this, we'll be able to better formulate a picture in our minds as to what it could be, eliminating the options one by one.
