Hi Dannyx2010

Hmmm...... Interesting :D

This can be caused by a few things may even be the slot in your computer but I don’t think that’s the issue if I'm honest.

Can you try and put the USB dongle into different slots allow it to load if it shows the error try another different slot as sometimes this resolves the issue. Failing this uninstall the software and re-install it completely.

These two suggestions fix this issue 90% of the time so if it doesn't resolve your issue then let us know and one of the team will be in touch :D

Thanks

it cant be the usb slots because it is a bran new laptop that i am using and when i plug the usb in it pops up with a box where i can choose to install the software on it(doesnt work for win7) or folder view the contents of it. also when i plug it in to the usb slot the usb light goes red for a few seconds then after that it flashes blue every 3 seconds

i uninstalled the software and reinstalled the software and it does exactly the same thing i posted in my first post....

this picture shows when i have first opened vmc with the usb already plugged in, nothing happens as you can see

this picture shows that i have taken out the usb and re inserted it into the usb slot

this picture shows that it didnt find the device...

hi dannyx2010

The K3760 (Options) USB modem does have some problems with the 64 bit version of Win7.
As far as the testers know, non-ASCII characterss are not supported in contacts and no 2G, so will only connect in 3G.

Can you see the device in the Modems list?
9.44.17702 is the latest software avaialable.

Did you get a CD with the usb?
If so, uninstall the software and use the cd to load it, then plug in the usb after the end of install reboot.

Give it another go and post back what happens, please.

If it's the same, then the "no device" message will need to be investigated. Please add the make and model of the laptop in the post.

Many thanks

i then removed the usb and unistalled the current vmc software and installed the software on the cd that came with the usb
after it reinstalled i put the usb in and it done the same well a little worse actually
it just said no device didnt even bother searching this time

Hi dannyx2010,

I have spoken to the resident guru and he has suggested downloading the latest version of VMC which is 9.4.4, this can be downloaded from here. :D

Hi Danntx2010

The saga continues, :(

I suspect that the device driver or modem is not being recognised or is somehow duplicated in your modem list.

Please can you try the following, (guide as per XP but similar in Vista as we're not on Vista):

1. Start

2. Control Panel

3. Phone and Modem

4. Advanced Tab

5. Modems

6. Remove any modems that say Huwei or Globetrotter

7. then unplug the modem if you haven't already done so

8. Plug it back in, and click 'Add' modem

9. Ok, and done

Now try to connect before and after a reboot.

THanks

I found this thread as a colleague also has had the same problem with his dongle, and coincidentally enough it is also a Toshiba Satellite laptop, albeit an older model.

We have managed to fix it, in an unexpected way. Despite the device coming up as a disk drive and the status lights coming on, we weren't convinced that full contact was being made so plugged the dongle into a USB extender cable. Everything now works as it should.

Not sure why there's this slight incompatability, but if you have one of these cables lying around it wouldn't hurt trying. (We did everything else we could think of, including a brand new rebuild of the system, to no effect).
