I've got a Vodafone SIM in a Huawei E220 which I top-up on PAYG. Today I tried to use it for the first time in several months, and could not get authorised. It is often a few months between use, as I only use it when there is no alternative.
Does the credit expire? How can I get it running again?

Hi nigelmercier,
Your SIM will deactivate if you do not use it for 90 days, in this event I think all you need to do is top up the SIM and it will reactivate.
Credit expires 30 days after putting topping up, if you do not use your full allowance in the 30 days then you will lose anything remaining.
So long as you are using a little bit of data every couple of months then your dongle will remain live, even if you are just using 10KB at a time.
I trust this clears everything up for you, please let me know if you have anymore questions.
Thanks
Holly

does this not depend on when you bought your dongle? cant you opt to stay on the 1Gb unlimited time for £15 top up if you chose this option when you bought the dongle? this was the only reason i chose vodafone as i do not need to top up £15 per month.

Hi scubar.
Unfortunately you cannot, this service doesn't offer the ability to opt in.
You may be able to find some vendors who have stock of the original modem with the original deal.
All the best

thanks BenJ but i think you missed my point. if you were already using the original 1gig unlimited time top up dont you just carry on with this plan? i wasnt saying you could opt in to the plan but if you have been happily using the 1gig unlimited time top up happily for 18 months has this now changed to the 30 day expiry 3gig version without us being notified?

Hi scubar
I think Ben may have got confused there, you are correct if you were already on the original plan (i.e. without the expiry) then you will stay on this, we would not change your plan without notifying you
.
Hope that clears things up for you. If you need further assistance just give me a shout
Thanks

Hi Holly,
Hmmm ... it didn't used to do this. So if I topped it up, would I get back the remaining credit? (I expect not from your answer).
I'm not sure what the minimum top-up is, but it is far more than I would use in a month. Is there a plan where the credit remains, or is given back when you top-up again? I use a Vodafone PAYG (voice) SIM in Greece, and this is what they do.

Hi Nigelmercier
We don’t currently offer anything like that ourselves in the UK however you never know what the future may hold
The only packages we have on offer are the ones mentioned previously at the moment however if you still need further assistance we will need to take a look into your account and this will involve us sending you an email.
Please let us know if you would like us to take a further look and we'll be in touch
Thanks
