Vodafone
Please verify the location of your Vodafone Sure Signal

Could the emergency services find you in the event of an emergency call?
Is your Vodafone Sure Signal registered to the correct address?

It appears that your Vodafone Sure Signal may have moved from the original address it was registered to, which is why you are receiving this message.

If your Vodafone Sure Signal has recently been moved, please remember that it is important that you update the address where it is being used with Vodafone. This is in order that the emergency services are able to locate you should you make a 999 call.

How to change the address

The address can be changed or confirmed as follows:

1. Log into your My Account page
2. Click on ‘Manage Sure Signal’
3. Click on ‘Change postcode’ and enter the new postcode where the device is being used, or if it has not been moved simply re-enter the existing postcode
4. Click on ‘Check postcode’ and verify the address listed
5. Click on ‘Confirm’
6. Select which floor you will be using it on and ‘Confirm’
7. Click on ‘Confirm’ to update the address

False alert

If you feel you are receiving this message in error, your device has not been moved and is registered to the address you are currently using it at, please accept our apologies.

A false alert can happen for a number of reasons:

- You may have a new broadband router
- You may have changed broadband provider
- Your broadband provider may have changed their IP address

How to stop receiving text alerts

In order to stop receiving text alerts please reconfirm the postcode by following the steps outlined above. If you continue to receive them after you have done this please contact customer support on 191.
Thanks again for being with Vodafone.

Hi rnm - a new router would cause this to happen.  Regarding the texts from Webuyanycar - it sounds like they have got your number from somewhere - perhaps you have entered it on a website or agreed for 3rd parties to get in contact when entering your details somewhere.  Either way, simply texting back STOP should prevent further messages from them.

PWIAC

Thanks for the very rapid response. But why would 'webuyanycar' be taking an interest in my Suresignal? What's the connection?

i have downloaded this app this will stop anything you don't want to receive.

Further twist - I've tried to text STOP but the message won't send despite me having a full five-bar signal courtesy of my SureSignal. Can you explain this?? (I've seen the posting from tonytango re a blocking app.)

Hi rnm - I have just read your message again and wanted to clarify something.  Are webuyanycar sending you text messages or are the text messages you send appearing as if they have been sent from webuyanycar?  Does this only happen when using the SureSignal?

PWIAC

The messages appear in my SMS box already labelled as from webuyanycar although I do not have nor have ever had their number or email in my contact list. The last one definitely came while I was at home (ie. via my SS) after I had deleted the first one; I can't now remember for sure whether the first one came when I was away from home although I think it did. They are only about my SS appearing to have moved - they have nothing about cars.

Hi there rnm,

Thanks for letting us know about this.

Tell me, have you changed the postcode and then amended it again?

Cheers,

LeeH

Hi LeeH. No I have not touched my details since I set them up, and they remain correct.

Any progress on answering my questions which cause most concern - why is webuyanycar doing this? How do they get their name on my phone when they are not in my contacts? Why won't my STOP text send?

While I'm at it my estate agent in Coventry has a completely different number to my dentist in Bassingbourn (S. Cambs) and yet their texts come up in the same thread....and always have done. It's not a big problem but it is weird - why is that happening?

Hi there rnm,

I have no idea, sorry. We'll have to investigate.

I've sent you a PM which can be accessed here. If you could follow the instructions in the PM and send us your details one of the team will be with you as soon as they can.

Cheers,

LeeH

I changed router, and in spite of changing postcode FOUR times following the received information (as above) I continue to get texts AND emails saying that it has moved etc etc.

I have tried live chat but that was a waste of time also...

can somone on here do somthing so I can be lest alone please???????
