How do I get my phone back - sent it for insurance repair

My phone broke on the way to Edinburgh  on 14th August, having spent a futile 90 minutes Plus talking to an advisor on line all I got was it was best to take it to a Store to process an insurance claim, this I did the following day. Taking it to the St Andrews store (Monday 15thA.M) I was advised it would take 3 to 5 days to repair this I thought was exceptional service so rather than buy another phone I accepted the courtesy phone and let them send the phone for repair.

I should have realised this wasn't going to be a easy at it seemed when I received a text advising it had been received for repair on Wednesday 17th. a little better than useless tracker indicated it had been received, receiving a second text later that day, I mistakenly looked at the tracker and assumed it was repaired so waited until Saturday and went into the shop to collect. NO PHONE but learnt I had mistakenly read tracker and it was still being repaired. Bearing in mind the time it took the repair centre to receive the phone   I went in the following Tuesday to check and advise I was returning home on the 26th could it be re-routed to Swindon, not a chance had to be returned to St Andrews store.

Good news on the Wednesday was advised repair complete and on its way back to St Andrews, received a call on Friday 26th August from the St Andrews store to say they had received the phone and would post it on. Tried to Phone St Andrews store twice but only got an answer phone with a message the store was closed for refurbishment until 13th July (this was a month before I first went in) left a message but no reply

Friday 2nd September went into Swindon store, who had no information but kindly helped by sending an email to the St Andrews Store; they tried ringing but couldn't get an answer.

Sunday 4th September received a call from Scott in St Andrews who said he would arrange for courier to take phone to Swindon store on Monday 5th, today the 7th having heard nothing I again phone St Andrews and left a message and await to hear.

IS THIS THE NORMAL SERVICE ONE IS TO EXPECT FROM VODAFONE IF SO HOW DID IT EVER GET TO WHERE IT IS IN THE TELECOMS MARKET, I WOULDN’T MIND BUT I DID DEBATE ABOUT BUYING A REPLACEMENT SINCE IT WAS LITTLE MORE THAN THE EXCESS, WHICH IS INCIDENTALLY DEARER THAN THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE COST ME ON THE HIGH STREET.

MORE TO THE POINT TO I REPORT IT AS LOST OR STOLEN IS THAT THE ONLY WAY I WILL GET IT BACK!!!!!!!, GOD FORBID I EVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN

THERE SEEMS TO BE NO OTHER WAY I CAN COMPLAIN SINCE WHEN I CALL THE INSURANCE LINE ALL I GET IS CANNOT HELP I DON’T HAVE THE INFORMATION

@brynhunt We have seen many posts relating to the timescale quoted to repair phones. Probably the 3-5 days is fairly accurate for the time needed for the phone to be in the workshop but it does not take into account the time to deliver the phone there and back.

If you do not hear from the St. Andrews store in tbe vest 24 hours you need to use Live Chat to find out exactly where the phone is. Tempting as it may be to report the phone as lost is not a good idea not least because the IMEI will be blocked so rendering tbe phone useless when you do receive it back.
