Hi,
I recently unlocked my LG G4 as my contract had ended and am using a sim card from another provider for the time being. When I turn on my phone I still get the Vodafone start up logo and was wondering how to get rid of this as am thinking of selling the phone at some stage or other. Although it is unlocked it may put off potential buyers.
I have performed a factory reset but that hasn't done the trick.
Solved! Go to best answer.

Hi @viggen
As the phone was supplied by Vodafone those splash screens and any baked in Apps would be present. Factory resetting only takes the phone back to its last firmware update.
Some apps can be removed by using a package disabler from the playstore.
The phone itself has the Vodafone Firmware Version on it so to remove splash screens then a way is to put a Custom Rom onto it which replaces the Vodafone branded one.
There is good information online with tutorials on how to do this but also take heed of the possible issues that trying this can cause.
Personally id leave it alone and advertise the phone as a Branded phone but fully unlocked to all Networks. If the buyer wants rid of splash screens then let them deal with that.

Thanks for the replies guys. It all looks a bit complicated to me and chances are I would brick the phone. Best leave it as it is as it doesn't interfere with phone's usage.
I just thought there may have been an easy fix to someone not too tech minded like me!
Thanks again.

As @BandOfBrothers mentioned, the phone has Vodafone Firmware installed, there is no easy way to remove this.
There are however slightly more complex ways. Have a search for "LG G4 Stock Firmware", one of the first links is to the xda-developers website which contains instructions on how to do this. One must warn that carrying out such a process with almost certainly void any warranty you hole with Vodafone, it also has the potential to 'brick' your phone thus rendering it useless.

I haven't checked, but I'd be very surprised if removing the branding would add enough to the value of the phone to make the risk of bricking it worthwhile. I agree with the advice to list it as unlocked but still network-branded.
