Internet Usage abroad on a laptop

I have monthly deal with iPhone and occasionally tether my PC to access the internet. I am going to Ireland for 3 days soon and need to have regular access to the internet whilst there. I am trying to find out the most cost-effective solution to use.

1) Tether my iphone - but that costs £2 for first 25mb then £5 per 5MB...  really expensive.

2)  But a UK dongle for £24.99 and then can  use the following ....???

Europe

Use up to 100MB a day (midnight to midnight, UK time) for £8.

And if so - how do I do set that up b4 I go?

3) Buy a Vodafone dongle in Ireland.

Any advice ?

Thanks

John

If you are visiting RoI lots, and not using it much in the UK, then a PAYG VodafoneIE dongle would be the best solution, and use it only when in RoI

If you want to replace the iPhone tether while in the UK and you are not planning on being out of the country much, then a PAYG or Contract

If PAYG it should just be a case of having the £8 credit on the device before trying to use it out there.

Excellent response .... thank you very much , looks like UK dongle with at least £8 on it then for me !
Thx

I recall reading somewhere that only certain PAYG modems allow roaming.

I'd have a dig around the 'Using things Abroad' section of the website, or confirm at point of purchase that it will work out of the UK.

I'd also suggest registering, testing, and giving customer services a call to check that there are no roaming bars on it before you actually leave for your travels :Smiling:

My Wife at the moment is having to stay in Ghana (Africa) and I am making enquiries to whether my wife could use a Vodafone Dongle if I were to send her one from over the uk and me pay for the Internet usage over here: she is a Nurse and is always on the move: where she herself is miles away within None Rural areas Civilization she has a sat laptop All I want to know if I could use such as a Dongle over there and of what type of Dongle was needed

Hi @RolandMitchell,

Any of our dongles available here would work fine.

You'd be charged our standard roaming rates for data usage.

Thanks,

Matt B
