Issues following porting a number from iG mobile to vodafone when sending an SMS (samsung S7 to S6)

I have recently ported a number from another supplier - the number now on my phone works fine. However when I send a text the number that was replaced appears as if that is where the text comes from. I am using a Samsung S7 and teh text is going to someone with an S6. If I send a text to someone with an iPhone then the ported number appears. This has only started happening in teh last 24-48 hours too. AMy ideas what the issue is?

I was on the help Chat for over 30 minutes but they were useless and I mean really poor unfortunately.

Hey

Porting over numbers can be a major hasstle.

If you have just recently ported your number across to Vodafone, it can take 48 hours to fully complete. The 48 hours is WORKING hours. So if you done it during the weekend or on a bank holiday, the number wont get ported across.

I would suggest tonight, when you go to bed turn your phone off completely.

Sometimes when numbers get ported, only half of the information comes across, which can cause your number to be playing up and not working correctly.

Porting normally takes between 11:00 - 16:30 (Your phone should be turned off during this time, to allow the info to be sent over fully) on a working day. So if your number continues to be split after tomorrow at 16:30, I would suggest calling Vodafone as it looks like only half off the information came across from your pervious network.

Also just to note, when you do port a number across to you new network and it doesnt work correcly, this is not your new networks fault, its your old network who hasnt sent across all the information.

Hopefully it will sort itself out tomorrow for you.

Cheers

Hi @DLF65

If the number works fine as it should on your phone, the number will be succsssfully ported.

If you are sending a text as part of a conversation prior to the number porting, this could be the reason for the incorrect number showing. Try sending the text as a fresh new message coming from the ported number and not part of a previous conversation prior to the number port.

If you still have the problem, the next step will be a reset of your Samsung S7.  This will remove any previous stored information in the phone and will stop the incorrect number showing.

@DLF65

That's very strange.

So we can investigate this further for you, I've sent you a private message with details on how to get in touch.
