Just had the update, then config message and now no data!

I let my phone update (OTA) today and it seemed fine, right up until it decided it needed to send a new configuration message and that was the moment in time that the data icon vanished for good!

 

I have resent it 4 times and done the jump to another network and back trick vodafone suggested when I waisted 10 minutes on the phone to tech support.

 

 

Any ideas?:smileysad:

We don't have a timescale on how long a fix will take as we can't isolate the cause. We are continuing to work on it but in the meantime I'd suggest a factory reset (after backing up your phone) to fix the issue.

I've had no data for over 2 weeks now have tried everything recommended.One thing I notice is that I can actually get data when I reset APN to default when the SIM service options  box appears with vodafone contract already checked my 4g re-appears then I ok it and everything goes missing again including the 4g. I've just done it again and received a whats app message my daughter sent 4 hours ago. Trouble is you cannot access anything else until you either check the SIM service box with ok or cancel. Either way, once you do that bang goes your data connection again. So a minor bug 2 weeks down the line and no wiser! And still no data

This is now getting ridiculous, still no fix or news of such. To cap it all I had THREE marketing calls fron Vodafone over the Christmas period to offer me rewards for my loyalty, things like extra data or special deals on 4G. When I calmly explained that I would just be happy being able to access what I'm actually already paying for but unable to use I was assured that they would personally sort out the issue for me, one guy even promised to call me back within three days and I did get a call but it was a different one trying to offer me things for my loyalty but no one called back regarding the actual problem. Lies, lies and more damned lies.

Can I terminate my contract on the grounds that the service you are offering me is not fit for purpose?

Doing a factory reset worked for me and apparently others. Shouldn't have to do this and it's a royal pain getting everything redownloaded, etc but at least it got data back. Have you tried that?

 

I used an app called SMS Backup & Restore for the SMS backup.

My Photos and Music and Downloads are on my SD card and Dropbox so I didn't have to back those up, but you may have to.

Apps, etc can all be found on Play Store under My Apps.

I downloaded Samsung Kies 3 as recommended by one of the customer support people. Backed up everything onto there, did a reset, no joy, no data, no response from Vodafone.

I have exactly the same, reset tried - didn't work, sim swapped in store, didn't work (surprise surprise). AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still waiting to get data and.................

Just had a message from Vodafone telling me that my free 4G trial is about to end and I can continue to have the benefits of 4G for just an extra £4 per month! They like a good laugh these Vodafone people don't they? Head don't know what the tail is doing.
