LG G4 Bootloop- Vodafone won't repair!!!

I sent away my LG G4 away for repair due to the dreaded bootloop error. This is a known issue and LG has acknowledged the fact it's a manufacturing issue and will fix or replace devices (see here) http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/lg-offers-free-repair-g4-devices-affected-by-bootloop-issue-1540292.

It is a vodafone handset bought via telesales and is in warranty. The phone was sent away in good condition according to the paper work and the screen is in very good condition. Vodafone got in touch saying they will charge me £150 because it's out of warranty due to a slight scuff on the casing, even thought this isn't related to the bootloop issues. In fact the slight cosmetic damage was done around 8 months ago! Any ideas what I can do? has anyone had similar problems? This has been a very poor experience and I'm losing patience as a vodafone customer.

Hi @jeh1989

With Vodafone only being a third party repairer, they are unable to repair a device under warranty when there is evidence of external damage.

You need to contact LG direct about the repair, the manufacturer is able to provide a lot more leeway than the network.

If you Google LG repairs, you will be able to find how to make arrangements for a warranty repair.

Hi @jeh1989

Unfortunately occasionally both the networks and manufacturers won't repair without charge a phone that looks to have been dropped. I'm not saying you have.

You could look to Household Insurance and some Bank Accounts provide mobile phone cover as a perk of the account.

T&C and excess fees would need to be checked.

Please do give Lg a try.

I had this same issue. My g4 developed the boot loop issue and they wanted £144 to repair it due to a slight ding in the outer casing. Eventually they agreed to fix it as the damage was not related to the hardware issue and they covered the cost. The troubles is now after two weeks the new replacement phone has developed an intermittent issue with the camera due to lose connection or soldering. After doing a live chat that said the store could replace the phone, then going to the store who said the could not I phoned them up. Not happy with the response I was given which was that they have to have had the phone sent back 3 times before they replace for another model I asked to speak to a manager. This was 1pm Wednesday and I was told they would contact me by 9pm that night, Friday morning after still not hearing anything I called them at 10am and they apologized and said someone would get back to me within a couple of hours. What a surprise it's now 5.30pm and still nothing. At this rate I may well be cancelling all 3 phones on my contract in the new year and going to a supplier that cares. Has anyone else had as many issues as this.

Update: gone 9pm and still no call. Vodafone should be ashamed of themselves. They may have the number one network but they have the worst policy's and a high lack of consistency in their customer relations. Most of the people I have spoken to have been good and tried to help but trying to escalate issues appears to be off Vodafone's radar.
