Lack of supply and Vodafone service in general are a joke!

I've been trying to get hold of a Sure Signal box for about a month now, similar to a few of the other members on here.

There is no signal in my home due to a mast being taken down nearby, and this isn't likely to be resolved until about February time I've been told, and Vodafone have said that due to this fault of their own, they will provide me with a free Sure Signal box.

So far so good. However I've since tried ringing about 4/5 times, going in to store and also web chat and everyone told me different and confusing things, and no-one can give me any answers! I can understand the need to wait for stock to be in (although I don't understand why it's taking this long!), but no-one will even promise to "send when there is one in stock" to me, all i am being told is that to find out, I need to ring back again in a random amount of days. Everytime I ring it wastes my time and I'm on hold for about 20 minutes. There have been some Sure Signal boxes in store, and the people I have spoken to on the phone have told me I can get one free from store, whereas when I go in to store they tell me that this isn't possible. I don't want to buy one myself from store and get it claimed back, because:

(a) I don't want to pay £100 upfront and then not get cash back but instead have it credited to my account; and

(b) I've had so many issues with Vodafone up to now, I don't want to risk the possible scenario of them deciding not to give my money back.

I've also been promised for compensation for the time without signal, but I can't imagine this will happen either!

This is just another problem to tag on to the many I've had with Vodafone. It started off badly when I ordered my phone online and didn't get it until over 3 weeks after I was told it would be in store. I received no emails or messages, and phoned countless people and went in to store many times to ask. Finally, I managed to track it down. It's location? It had been sitting in store the whole time! Then Vodafone tried to charge me for this month. For a company whose business is communication, the communication of Vodafone is a joke!

Can someone organise getting me a Sure Signal box finally so I can actually have some decent signal?

Hi Lauren24,

There's a new Sure Signal device starting to appear but there's been a gap in supply between that and the new units coming through.

I got what now appears to have been one of the last of the the 'old' v2 units and, like you, was advised to get this from a store. I was refunded the cost (via credit to my account) very quickly but, if you don't want to use this route, I think you'll just have to wait until a unit becomes available that can be sent to you. Unless, that is, you can persuade Vodafone to issue a voucher or something. The stores need to account for stock so I don't think they have the authority to simply hand you a Sure signal without taking money off you.

I told the store manager I didn't care how much he charged me for mine because I knew I would be refunded. 😉

I found that I got the best service using the online chat service (I spoke to a customer service advisor in India who found that my local store had a Sure Signal in stock), so it may be worth you trying the same.

HTH,

Peter
