Mobile Broadband - K3565 Replacement?

mark5211
Not applicable
I have been using my K3565 dongle with a non-expiring sim card for months (£15 for 1gb),

Unfortunately the dongle has got damaged and no longer works, I purchased a replacement expecting it to work the same but it didnt connect at allwith my non-expiring sim (it was a K3570),

Is it possible to use another dongle or do a need an exact K3565 replacement,

thanks.

Hello Mark5211 and welcome to the eForum

Unfortunately you would have needed another K3565 in order to continue on an identical non-expiring setup as before, we also no longer source the K3565 model.

You will have to continue with this modem using the current sim, if there are issues with the sim I would also suggest having it swapped for a new sim.

I would advise topping up your current dongle with at least £15 and advising us on any connection difficulties as soon as possible, we can then look into these viw the Modem's account.

I'm sure Reidar is correct, but it may just be worth checking that the VMC profile is still set up for APN of "pp.internet" and not the one that came with the new dongle's software.

Thanks for your replies, the software and the sim card are okay but the dongle got broken by my car running over it in my garage

I was going to purchase one of the new pink K3565 refresh dongles from tesco (on offer at £14.99) as I thought it may work with my software but obviously it wont by what you say, so ill just have to find a old K3565 replacement on ebay now!

I would have thought the important thing is that whatever dongle you use it must either be Vodafone branded (was the Tesco one Vodafone?) or else unlocked using a code. I have an E160E from a tango-coloured rival and unlocked it for £2 using an EMEI based code from Ebay and it runs my 3GB Vodafone dongle just fine using generic Huawei Mobile Partner software. I would be surprised if your non-expiring SIM is any different, though as I say Reidar may be correct.

Surely a Voda SIM is just a Voda SIM, but I may be wrong and there's only one way to find out...

Thanks Jarviser, yes all the dongles are vodafone ones, I think that I will give it another go this weekend using the generic Huawei software, hopefully I can get it working, thanks for your help it has been extremely helpful!
