Mobile Broadband - Mobile Wi-Fi

I recently bought the vodafone mobile wi fi device (25th of september). Furthermore i bought the £25p/m contract as well which said i would get 5GB p/m. When i took it home and tested it, it seemed very slow. I then went onto internet speed checker and i found out that i was actually getting 238kb which is less that 1/3 of 1GB.

You might ask weather i am in a zone covered my 3G and mobile coverage. Again i checked and i should be recived 5 bars. I go to check my device. 1 bar...some of the time!!!.

Have i just wasted my money buying a device that doesnt work?

Is there anything i can do about it? i.e take it back.

a very dissapointed vodafone customer

U might find indoors it can be slow may pick up after it settles. Mine normally goes to 3g then 3g+ after 5-6 min. U may find it will b better in different rooms. U have 5gb data to use per month which is quite a lot, i found i used bout 3gb at my highest point. Average i think was around 2 tho.

If you've had it less than 7 days you can take/send it back.

If you don't get the light blue LED only the dark blue then you are probably only on 3G not HSDPA. If you only get green LED then it's not even 3G. You didn't say.
Try it upstairs, outside, up or down the road etc and see if it gets any better. It may simply be too many brick houses between you and the VF mast.

I would urge people to buy the £20 3GB Vodafone PAYG (Including from Argos) to try it before committing to a contract (Too late for you I guess)

If you give the postcode the staff may be able to check the signal strength for you.

Hi lads and welcome to the Vodafone eForum. :)

As jarviser has already stated, you do get 7 days from date of purchase to return the device if you are unhappy with it, after this point you are committed to the contracted term. You can still terminate within this contracted period, but you'd be subject to an early termination fee. This is remaining months left on contract, multiplied by your line rental costs( Ex VAT) minus a 2% discount.

If you can advise me the postcode area where you're having issues, I'll do a check for any faults and indepth coverage check for you.

Hi lads

NW3 6PA :

This is shows as on the cusp of 3 sites (72353, 72356, 48834) All sites are working fine with no engineering works. the coverage does seem to dip in this area VS the surrounding area, this could be due to topology issues. on comparing the area with Google maps, I can see a lot of schools and chapels in that area which may be causing the slight dip. You should be receiving 3G coverage however indoor may only yield GPRS.

Thanks
