Hi there, I have a vodafone dongle on PAYG. It connects to the net fine, I can surf the net, and recieve emails, no problem at all, but it wiil not send emails, it shows them as sent in outlook (vista) , but no one is recieving them. I set my outgoing server to send.vodafone.net, which worked fine for a couple of months, but in the last few weeks, nobody is recieving the emails I am sending, yet when I connect at home on my home broadband it all works fine, and everybody recieves the emails I send from that. I have checked my security settings, which I don't think is causing a problem.
Please help me as I am having to send all my emails from my Blackberry at the moment wich is a nightmare!
It has a couple of times shown an error code 'RAS 633', but when this happens it won't connect to the net or anything.
Thanks pmac.

If your home broadband isp allows authenticated smpt it's possible that will probably work
so far as my testing last week indicated. Two sent using smtp+tls and another two sent
using smtps arrived ok within few seconds at inbox of recipient, of five sent using smtp via
send.vodafone.net only one arrived taking 47 minutes to inbox (delay due to greylisting),
one sent on Jan 23 and three sent Jan 24 were all accepted by send.vodafone.net but there
has not even been a single attempt by send.vodafone.net.to deliver either of the two sent
to address at server here (I just checked firewall log), and I assume same goes for two sent
to address with an isp that haven't turned up.

Hi pmac

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with this. I can totally appreciate how frustrating this must be for you.

The send.vodafone.net servers seemed to have reached capacity so my advice would be to use your own ISP providers outgoing settings. making sure you tick the authenticated option. Then you'll just need to get the relevant info from your ISP.

Please let me know how you get on and if you have any more questions just give me a shout

Thanks

Wayne

This is more than simply frustrating, it is scandelous. You are charging for a service and we are not getting the service. Emails are appearing to be sent and disappearing into a black hole. No notification is being received that they are not being delivered and the only suggestion is to carry on paying Vodafone but use an smtp service from another provider!!

I rang customer services this morning. They have advised that the ticket number for this issue is 578683778. It was first logged in June 2009 and the last update was 2 weeks ago!

Come on Vodafone, sort this issue out ASAP!

Hi,

I am having a similar problem. I can receive emails OK, but when I try to send an email, I get an email back from the 'System Administrator' with the following text:

"Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Test

Sent: 04/02/2010 16:20

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

"email address of outgoing message" on 04/02/2010 16:20

530 authentication required"

I'm not that technical. What is "530 authentication"?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Jon

It looks as if you need to click a box, probably marked something like "Authenticate SMTP server" or "Use incoming server details to authenticate outgoing mail server" in your mail client.

Hi Jon Millo

I have asked around the technical team around this one and there not sure how you would stop this from happening however I have Googled this and found an answer :D

You will need to go into Tools > Account Settings > More settings then check that the option under "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is selected as off.

Give this a go and see if it works.

If there is anything else you require let us know and we'll be in touch :D

Thanks
Matthew

i am having trouble getting the content control off, this is because this website is very badly represented. i try and click on content control, and it takes me to a page that doesn't even work. i am getting very Annoyed with this service. i am thinking about changing my network over this. i would like it very much if you would reply to me, and get this site working like it is suppose too.

Hello leannemclean,

Thanks for your post today. It looks like we’ll need to access your account to investigate further, so we’ve just sent you an email. Please check your inbox for the email. If it hasn’t arrived, don’t worry as it’s possibly been diverted to your spam filter.

If you can fill in all the details and send the email back, we’ll be in touch to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

Thanks
