Mobile Broadband Usage - Shows Time But Not Volume

gordon mackie
Not applicable
I am using my USB dongle abroad (Italy) and the usage by volume shows zero.. it had started to show some usage on day 1 but now shows nothing..time based shows about 20 hours...I have no way of telling how much I am using and therefore I do not know if I am approaching acceptable use limits. Given the high cost of usage abroad, this is a worry. All my connections are on Vodafone IT.

I did once before get home to a bill for £1,000 for a couple of days use due to not seeing the volume of a Windows Vista upgrade I received automatically...I do not understand why the volume meter is not working

Hi gordon mackie,

This is a good question and I can understand why you want to monitor your usage when overseas.

I’m honestly not sure why the data counter is not recording all of your usage (or showing it all) however the data counter on VMC is not reliable and this is something we will always advise people of. The best way to monitor your usage is via online billing. If you’ve not yet signed up, I seriously recommend it as there are many other things you can do through My Account such as managing your price plan, upgrading or adding or removing bars. :)

Unbilled usage on here can be up to 72 hours behind though and with roaming charges, this can be up to 30 days. This is the same for us when looking at your unbilled usage on your account as it’s the normal delay in the network.

Try signing up for online billing thought as this will most probably be more up to date and certainly more reliable than the data counter.

All the best,

Jenny

Thanks - I played around and found that if I changed max usage to 500Mb it shows OK - I will try online billing as well

much appreciated - Gordon
