No you don't need a Spanish sim card, your Vodafone UK sim will work just fine as long as it's enabled for itnernational roaming (which the administrators can check for you). However be aware of the charges for using data whilst roaming.

Hi bits,

First and foremost, a warm welcome to the eForum.

Without giving DPH a big head, he's spot on as usual, thanks DPH. You can indeed use your PAYG Dongle abroad, but first of all, please take a look at Using the Internet Abroad as this will give you a low down on all the charges that will apply to you and just so you are aware, Spain in in Zone 1 when looking at the costs.

As DPH mentioned, we will need to ensure that your PAYG account is enabled with the International roaming facility, so we can get this checked I have sent an email over to your registered address so we can arrange this for you.

Any further questions, please let us know,
hanks

£1 per MB seems very expensive,

Can I use a spanish sim in my dongle?

The vodafone.es price's seem a lot cheaper

19 Euros for 250MB

50MB for £9.99

I was reading the wrong section,
Is there no option to buy a bigger allowance like 250MB?

Hi,

I have a PAYG retro K3565 Vodafone Dongle i.e. 1GB/£15 with no expiry.

Can the International roaming facility be enabled on this model of dongle? When I bought the Dongle, I was told that I could not use it abroad (at least not on PAYG).

How are the £9.99 payments per 50 MB taken? Do I add money into my account in advance or are payments taken automatically from my registered credit card?

Thanks,

Rocky

Hi Rocky,

All of our dongles can be enabled to use them abroad, we simply need to remove the roaming restriction on your account. (if this is in place)

As this is an account specific query, I'm going to send you a quick email, please reply with your details and one of the team will be able to get this sorted for you.

Hi Bits,

You can request an unlock code for your dongle and use an international SIM in this by filling in the unlock request form online.

Unfortunately there aren't any international bundles on the PAYG dongles and as such the prices quoted online are the only one's that we offer.

Hi James,
The link you gave is for pay monthly plans. Is there a similar link I can use to unlock my K3565 (£15/1GB) Pay As You Go dongle for use in Ireland with an Irish SIM?

Thanks,
John.

Good Evening johnw

I've just checked the link provided and i confirm that is the right link for requesting a network unlock code.
All you need to do is select Vodafone Data Devices for the drop list of phones provided.
As all the other information will be the same whether your requesting a code for a phone or a USB and whether it's contract or PAYG.

Cheers

Hi Nicola,

I requested the Unlock Code and eventually received the following instructions:

"Further to your communication with Vodafone regarding the unlocking of
your Huawei handset, I have set out the following procedure and
unlocking code:

1. Insert a Non-Vodafone SIM card

2. Switch handset on

3. Handset will ask for the unlocking code

4. Enter

5. Press OK"

However, when I test this with a t-mobile SIM I just get a message on the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite window telling me to "Insert the Correct SIM" and there does not appear to be an option to enter an unlock code. Does the procedure only work for an international Vodafone SIM or does it not work at all with my dongle (the original K3565 £15/1GB)?

Regards,
John.
