Mobile Broadband speeds,

HHGTTG
5: Helper

I have had my PAYG  dongle now for about 6 months and on the whole am very pleased with the service, apart from some hiccups at the beginning, last Nov/Dec. when it was sometimes difficult to get a connection.

However in those early, heady days I used to check my 'speed' from time to time usiing, say,  www.Speedtest.net  and I am sure I frequently got readkings of ca. 3meg. However nowadays I am stretched to get readings as high as tha,t often getting readings below 2 or even 1.5 or in the region of.

I assume we're suffering from popularity of this means of accessing the internet and are paying for that in terms of more restricted bandwidth?

Hey there HHGTTG,

Many thanks for your post regarding download speeds using your PAYT dongle.

I'm afraid I can only check your profile postcode since this is the only detail I have to work with here.

Can you confirm for me speeds are slow wherever you go or is it just in one location?

What model dongle are you using?

Can you try your SIM in an unlocked handset to update the SIM on the network?

I've checked local site stats for your profile postcode and there are no issues reported on the site. It's referenced 78473 and is just to the Northeast of your postcode at the football ground on the edge of Fisher's Wood.

The last reported issue on this site was in February and no alarms are showing for this site.

There is nothing listed for your postcode on our Faults Board, however there is a listing for the BR1 area and your site may well be being used by other customers as the serving site could be working harder to provide more bandwidth to more customers.

I expect that once the issue at BR1 is fixed you will see speeds revert to expected levels.

Cheers,

Lee
