Mobile Connection Not Possible

etstv
Not applicable
I purchased a Vodafone TopUp and Go mobile broadband dongle. Installed it on my Vista laptop and could not connect - getting a mobile connection not possible error.

So I tried on another Vista system with same error and an XP system for good measure.

Searching the Internet and forums was no help - uninstalling and reinstalling had no effect.

What is more frustrating is the Vodafone website - contact us page is not available. The phone number on the support page (v.9.3.5.11690) and back of start up manual is no longer active - 08700 7776655. So even finding a telephone number is impossible.

An all round terrible experience with Vodafone. I am taking the dongle back and getting a refund. I will then give either 3 or T-Mobile a go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully anyone interested in a Vodafone dongle will read this and think otherwise.

Or maybe.....someone at Vodafone will read this and give me some help..............or a phone number..............

Hello Etstv and welcome to the eForum :)

I seems to me as thouoght there is some sort of confilict with another progrmame, or the dongle has nistalled intelf on another usb port :(

Please can you do the following:

1. unplug the modem

2. Start

3. Control panel

4. Phone and Modems

5. Avanced tab

6. Remove any modems that read 'huwei' or globetrotter

7. click ok and restart the pc then connect your usb modem and attempt another connection.

Please keep me posted.

Thanks

Hi Reidar,

Thanks for response...........

Same problem Im afraid. My actions:

Fresh install on Windows XP box
Attempt to connect - same mobile connection not possible error
Removed modem (attached to com3) and unplugged
Restarted and reattached
Attempt to connect - same error

This seems crazy. The 4th machine and the same issue. All have different hardware/software configs - pretty standard home configs.

Any help appreciated,

Rgds,

Mark

Hey etsv,

Have you tried downloading the latest Vodafone Mobile Connect version? This provides a greater driver database and compatibility, so might just do the trick.

Other than this, your modem may be faulty :(

Please consult our repair thread for more info on how to get this fixed. Keep us updated with how things develop for you.
