You have probably received confirmation of the order by email and as soon as the credit check clears and providing the phone is in stock as soon as the phone has been despatched, this will be updated and you will receive a further email with delivery details.
You will then be able to track the progress of the delivery online.

Not a good start I agree.
Vodafone would only send tracking information via email once it's ready for despatch. Check Spam In-Boxes.
Which phone did you opt for may I ask ?
If this was my situation I'd ring Customer Services on 191 and ask specifically if the phone is In-Stock for despatch or on back order or delay. And that my Credit Check had passed.
As the 28/3/17 was a Tuesday you should have heard something by now in my opinion.

The phone is on back order for the 32 GB with a 1 to 2 week wait for delivery although there is stock of the 128 and 256GB variants.

Well it's been out a while but sometimes the chosen storage capacity or even colour can be not in stock.
The new Red Edition iPhone 7 could be in short supply too where relavant.

Which capacity did you choose as not all are on back order.
32gb is.
128gb isn't.
256gb isn't.
The iphone 7 Plus models are not either.

I agree.
Communication is Key.
Ask if they can help with perhaps opting for the next capacity up due to the delays. This could affect your current agreement / tariff / deals but it costs nothing to ask.
