You can always add more data to a contract and pay more but be careful that you don't get committed for a new 24 month period.

You can always change your plan to one that comes with more data. Customer Services will be able to assist you with this.  As @jeffkinn says, if you are mid contract, please make sure that they only increase your plan and don't sign you up to a new contract.

If you are mid contract, you should also be aware that once you increase your plan, you won't be able to decrease it to below the new tariff price. If you are out of contract, you will be committing to a new term.

Will this be the same as upgrading?

I'm not sure exactly how it works. Someone else in the community might be able to clarify that for you.

Or call 191 tomorrow and ask them or use live chat tonight.

No, not for a mid contract tariff increase or for an upgrade.  You may find, for the £10 extra you're paying a month, it works out better value to change the plan.

Customer services will be able to help you with details of the costs.

It may also be an idea to look at your handset's data logs (if it has any) or download a data monitoring app.  That way you can work out what app is using lots of data and if necessary, change the settings so it doesn't consume quite so much.
