OS 10.3 on Blackberry DONT DO IT!!!

MrDJ
5: Helper

me not happy one bit.

ive had major problems with almost all updates but this one takes the biscuit with hundreds complaining on the BB forums.

auto update turned off on Q10 but it updates on its own accord without my authorization.

all icons are now a lot smaller and 5 per row on screen and not 4 like before.

volume on all calls and alarms half the volume even though set to max.

callender alarm stops after 2 seconds even though it is 20 seconds long.

facebook has loaded every message since ive had the phone so over 6000 messages to delete.

phone is used in hospital for emergency calls so i need to get the volume problem and callender problem sorted by monday.

so my advise is dont upgrade.

if the issues arent solved soon who would i need to speak too if i wanted to roll back to previous OS

as my contract is not up until november i might even go and buy a new phone but what gaurantee will i have that it wont auto update to latest OS as soon as its switched on.

and sadly im old fasioned and like a real keyboard so im stuck with blackberry. passport will be next though.

Hi @MrDJ

If you're unable to use the BlackBerry desktop software to select an older operating system, we can request a roll back via a repair.

Alternatively, you can approach BlackBerry themselves to see if they can do this remotely for you.

If they're aware of teething problems with the latest release, chances are they may be able to roll out another update to address them before a repair can be actioned.

Unfortunately, we won't have details on the updates until they happen. Our firmware guide has more details about this.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben and thanks for the reply.

i sat in a queue yesterday for 40 minutes waiting to speak to rim but still couldnt get through.

rang vodafone earlier and an operator connected remotely and said (which i knew) that the BB link software on my computer was corupted. he tried to remove it and asked me to reboot and ended the call and the software is still there. ive also used some pro software to try and remove it but it wont budge.

the OS updaate was done on wifi and connected to mains but not connected to computer.

sods law i left my mains usb cable at a relatives a couple of weeks back and they live on the other side of the country so am trying to get in contact to get them to post it back.

the main problem now is the half volume ring tone even though its set to max and the 2 second ringtone for the callender.

i have now had to stand down from tomorrow for emergency cardiac arrest calls as my phone is my main contact as i could be anywhere in the hospital. as you can guess its imperative that i have a phone that i can actually hear and ive missed one call this weekend in a quiet house so in a noisy enviroment its needed on max volume.

i did go and try to buy full price a passport today but the store doesnt stock blackberrys anymore.

as you can guess i would rather not spend over £500 on a phone just for the ringtone but looking at all the complaints on the bb forum there are hundreds suffering the same thing so theres a risk a new phone when turned on might have the same bug as the OS gets updated at registration.

anyway nothing can be done now until i get the usb cable returned.

not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Very interesting. So my hearing isn't going. Don't laugh but I do have a hearing aid. I wondered why the icons were smaller. I also did the upgrade on wifi not bb link. Those things apart I am loving the upgrade. As I said before. If I had the Classic with the trackpad and this upgrade we could be back to the great days of the Bold. It's taken bb 2 years to get back to base!

no your not loosing your marbles, lol.

there are thousands of posts now on the official bb forum and crackberry. and the list of problems is getting longer and longer. also lots of phone models affected so it is defo 100% the OS update even though at first they were saying it was a user fault using wifi and an interupted download.

the devs are aware and working on a fix but we have no idea how long it will take.

this is the callender alarm problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LecsshVvVo

Hi all,

Since upgrading to OS Software 10.3.1.1779 and OS Version 10.3.1.2576 I have been getting very low volume on notifications, at least 60% less and have missed numerous calls etc.

I have read that OS 10.3.1.2582 fixes this but I cannot find a suitable upgrads site. Any ideas please?

@Bassman02

I've merged your post with this thread to help keep everything together. :Winking_smiley:

Please try backing up your phone and then doing a factory reset. If you're unsure how, our Device Guides can show you.

I'd then do the software update using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager instead of Wi-Fi. Reports online seem to show the volume issue is less likely to occur this way. :Smiling:

got an email reminding me about this post

5 months later and the Q10 phone is still collecting dust.

i had to buy a full price BB passport so i could do my life saving job in hospital.

offered repair by bb but they said they wont roll back the OS to 10.2 (but the phone is not broken so noting to repair).

2 laptops still wont load to bb link so tried a brand new laptop and same issue.

i have tried autoloaded but that didnt work also.

tried sachesi but it says i have the latest version of OS

i will need my Q10 when i travel to america soon as dont want to take the bulky passport so im going to have to try a cracked OS. wonder if that will work.

great for a phone thats still on contract until november.

oh well, onwards and upwards or in this case backwards.
