your right it is half the fun, and its a good test to see if you look after your devices as if you survive an Apple pre-order with out hitting your macbook, ipad etc in frustration then you are allowed to have one 😉

Lol. Very true.
I had three different browsers open this morning, trying two different internet connections in an attempt to get on and place an order. Was also trying via 3G on the off-chance Voda's own network would have routing priority to their own site. Crazy stuff!
This all whilst trying to get my son ready for school. Hehe.

lol, love it, I had my iPad and MacBook with safari and chrome trying to get in, took me till 10am, to get my none confirmed order done.
Hope I'm not too far down the queue now with my reorder at 7pm.

I managed to place my order over the phone for an upgrade this morning at 8:25, so i should be one of the very first in line. I didnt receive an order confirmation at all, i phone backed up at 6PM and they told me that the order is showing on my account and that it has an order number and looks fine.
I was on an upgrade though, i had preordered an iPhone 6+ 12months, Ul-Ul-1GB with one of cost of £409!/
If you have any doubts i would phone them first they may have your order.

To be clear both orders I'd placed this morning showed on my account (including the duplicate), all with a valid order number, but they never progressed passed the initial stage. The key is the order confirmation, as until that point you really have no order and almost certainly no "place" in the pre-order queue either. If your account is still showing the old price plan and that you can still upgrade I'd suggest your order has definitely not confirmed at this point - that of course isn't to say it won't eventually - it may have been similar situation to other years where orders were being taken manually and will then get processed some point later.
Edit: The key is what the order tracker says regarding your order - sometimes as has been the case in previous years, emails end up getting delayed or never delivered at all

Was the order which has not received the confirmation for a 6 Plus by any chance?
My 6 order appears to have confirmed, but the 6 Plus (although I've presently got duplicate orders sat there) has not!

I also ordered the iPhone 6 Plus at around 09:00 this morning and haven't received confirmation; I had an email to say my upgrade was received instantly but nothing since...
