Potentially sending phone for warranty repair

So my Huawei P9 won't charge with most chargers. It won't charge with an iPad charger (which charges other USB devices fine), it won't charge with a normal USB charger, it won't charge with my computer and it won't charge with my car charger (it used to!)  The odd thing is that  it will only charge with one of the power bank / external batteries and even then it will be VERY slow.

 

I've been in touch with Huawei and apparently it will need some warranty work. SO the question is, will Voidafone provide me with a temporary replacement phone or will that be Huawei's responsibility?

Vodafone will only supply a loan device if you have a compatible contract, or insurance.  I doubt Huawei would at all.   The usual advice is to buy a cheap PAYG phone to tide you over.   If you do qualify for a loan device, you'll need to go to a Vodafone shop and it'll be subject to avaiability.

 

On balance, I'd be inclined to go direct to Huawei on this one (it sounds as though this may be a known issue).   It wouldn't hurt to ask about a loaner - you never know...

@charimito If you send the phone via a Vodafone store the store will try to supply you with a courtesy handset but it may not be the same model, it depends on what they have in stock as replacements.

 

If you do send it away you should take a few photos of the phone showing its cosmetic condition and ask the shop staff to not the condition of the repair slip.

The general advice is to  remove the back and the battery, the sim card and any other sd cards, although as it seems to be a battery problem it will be worth checking with Huawei what they  want you to send with it.

It is impossible to get in touch with Huawei, I'll receive a call back god knows when. The battery can't be removed so nope can't remove that.

 

So if I understand correctly I can actually send it for repair with either Huawei or Vodafone?

@charimito I agree with @hrym that going direct to the manufacturer  is the best option. You are cutting out the delay that would Kick in if Vodafone have to send it and receive it back.

I'd agree with @hrym to go with the manufacturer. 

 

Tip : Take Time / Date stamped pictures of the device to show the condition you sent it back in and one of it turned on.

I'm confused. You said in your first post that you'd been in touch with Huawei, but then that they're impossible to contact. Maybe the second is re service? If so, it may be quicker to go to Vodafone, but if they have trouble replicating the problem (or a basic test comes up clear), they may not fix the issue first time. Also, follow the advice to take photos to show there's no damage.

Yeah I was in touch with them on Facebook who then told me to call technical support who are impossible to get through...
