Hi,
I see that when we use a mobile broadband dongle, the network releases a private ip address to the dogle interface.
I need to find out a particular dongle that receives a public Ip address instead of a private one.
It is for VPN or remote control purposes.
Has Vodafone any option in UK?

Hi Roberto
Mobile broadband dongles are configured to protect the end device from the public network by various sets of NAT and PAT routing.
There is no way without going down a bispoke solution of getting inbound connections into a broadband sim

Rather than looking for a public (and routable, which is the challenge) IP address for the dongle, could you establish a reverse SSH tunnel from the destination machine, and then connect back through that? That should circumvent any NAT/PAT problems, whilst not exposing the destination machine to the Internet.
If you were to use a certificated SSH connection, you could have a shell script to automatically re-establish the connection if it should drop?
