Manually adding the modem will not fix the problem, as it is not being detected in the first place
Can you tell me what version of Windows you are using, and also whether or not Vodafone Mobile Connect has automatically installed itself after plugging in the modem?
This will give us some idea of how far the modem is getting with installation. Only after showing up as a CD Drive in order to install the software, will it then switch over to Modem mode and install the rest of the components. If you could let us know whether you see the modem showing as a CD drive or not, and also if you have a USB Mass Storage Device and USB Composite Device showing in Device Manager.
Also tell me what is showing under the Modems listing in Device Manager too.
Once we have this information, we should have some ideas about possible ways to fix the problem
