Recent OTA software update has killed my battery life

As per the title, the recent OTA update has killed my battery life!

IMS Framework is now always running, and that stops the phone from going to sleep - so it is always awake.

The battery lasts only for a couple of hours now - making the phone useless for business use while travelling.

Before anyone suggests it, I have done a factory re-set, and cleared the phone cache - same result with just the phone software running - no Apps installed.

This is appalling!

How can I revert to the previous phone software?

Vodafone, you obviously didn’t test this last release!!!

I believe this sort of thing can be caused by the update corrupting.   It's possible to roll back  - @thesoupdragon , can you help here?

If you connect your phone to Samsung Kies software on your PC/Laptop, you can reflash the firmware as a recovery option.

It sounds like the firmware could be corrupt, so reflashing, then a factory reset should sort it out.

Actually, the conversations regarding 'Rich Communication Suite' looks to be the same issue!

Vodafone are going to have to look into this urgently!

I have had the same issue for the last 2 days.  IMS Framework and Android systems killing my battery. Phone getting hot as I guess it is not sleeping.  Did the Keis method fix it for you ?

My S4 is doing exactly same! Killing my battery too!

Any way of sorting it without wiping the phone?:smileymad:

I had the same issue and have managed to fix it by disabling rich communications and then rebooting the phone.

Settings->Connections-> More Networks-> Rich Communications

A reboot is required.

Hi,

Can you tell me how your rebooted your phone?

Thanks

Just spoken to Vodafone and they are aware of the issue.

I was told that the phone cannot be reset back to the previous software and they are accepting fully liability for the error. Vodafone have also confirmed that they will be covering everyone who has the issue with a temporary phone (free of charge) whilst they can "reroot" the phone back to the previous version.

If anyone has anyone has any other ideas how to resolve this (dont trust vodafone with my phone) to fix the issue, please let me know.

The only way to get back to your previous software is to root the phone, install a customer recovery and flash the old firmware to the handset via a PC/Odin software. Doing this would void your warranty however, so probably not advisable. Normally a new update for these kind of issues is prompt, so I'd imagine there's already a fix in the works.
