Solution

Reconfigure Payg Mobile Broadband

Hi,

I am posting this on behalf of my slightly computer illerterate mother so bear with me.

She has just bought a PAYG Mobile broadband and the nice chap in the Vodafone shop installed the S\W etc and it is working fine. The issue is that the USB port he used is next to the power input so when the dongle is in it covers the power power input and the cable cannot be plugged in.

I am assured she has tried another USB port on the com[puter but the Vodafone connevction software does not recognise the dongle as plugged in so cannot connect to the internet.

Does anyone know how I can re-configure the PC so the dongle will work in another port? She has asked other users and they say that even uninstalling and re-installing the S\W with the Dongle in another USB port does not work (only passing on what she has told me).

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Rob.

Hi,When you plug the dongle Into another USB Port, the computer should recognize the new USB Port without you having to do anything,If you are having problems then uninstalling everything, the software and the network connections in your control panel, reboot, then plug the dongle into the port you want and It should reinstall everything again.Have you tried using the lead that comes with the dongle this way it should not cover up the power input.

Thanks Richie will get her to try (or end up trying it myself for her more likely)

Hi timsonr,

Firstly I would like to welcome you to the eForum. :)

The advice what richie1913 has suggested is a good place to start, as far as I am aware the dongle should work in whichever USB port it is plugged into you. A extension wire is a solution which would defiantly work as well.

As Richie has said if this doesn’t resolve your issue post back and we can look further into this for you.

Thanks B-)
