After the update my phone is a bundle of scrap. It freezes, does random things; can't hold a wifi connection and can drain a battery in 12 hours standby.
I tried a soft reset which didn't help. I have now carried out a factory reset.
Phone still a bundle of scrap.

I have been expereincing the same probs after the Operating Systems (OS) upgrade recently (approx 6/8 wks ago now), friends also on 3G Voda contract, same S5 handset has the same problems.
Handset worked completely fine BEFORE the OS upgrade.
Link above to the other thread of same issues.
Not having the constant wifi connection when at home is shocking, but the whole handset is now:
(1) Slow to react when an icon is touched on the screen, a few seconds delay before the system registers the selection and progresses
(2) Extremely slow in loading pages when browsing using mobile data and not within a wi fi area
(3) Upgraded system drains the battery far quicker than before, even though I have non- essential apps now turned off and screen brightness turned right down
What I find truely shocking is this OS upgrade roll out had not been UAT proper tested. If that was done, these problems we experience now would had been noticed and remedied BEFORE it was rolled out to the end customers.
Considering the 1,000s of customers who own the S5 handset on Voda, its no surprise that Voda is losing revenue with customers going to another provider once their contract is up for renewal (I will be one of them). One might say its the handset's manufaturer's fault, but Voda has a duty of care to ensure an acceptable level of service is had by the customer.

Did you try a factory reset after the update? This will get rid of any bits of the old code that are hanging round and should solve the problem.
I'd also recommend restarting any device before doing an update. It refreshes the device and closes all the processes and caches that will have built up over time, giving you the maximum resources for the job. It may even remove the need for a reset afterwards.

Hi @davidgorringe & @john2015
Please try the suggestions hrym has provided.
If you feed the device has developed a fault, we can offer a repair.
Thanks,
Sukhi

Thanks for the pointers, haven't had time to do the factory reset, whcih takes quite a bit of time in articles I have read.
Plus having to back everything up before hand....!!

I'd say a factory reset takes probably a hour or so, maybe less. All your apps will re-load when you sign back into Google (as long as you tick the "restore" option) and you can go away and leave it to do that itself.
Backing up is mainly a matter of taking copies of things like music files and photos and you can use a file manager app to do that in bulk to an sd card. Your music service may simply reload, of course. In general, it's best to assume that data does't exist at all if it only exists on one place, so it's a good practice to keep regular backups anyway - such as syncing photos to Dropbox or Google+
If you do use an sd card, remove it before the reset process as in some circumstances, it can get wiped - usually if it's set as some part of system storage, such as the camera.
The main pain is restoring app settings and setting up your homescreens, but check for 3rd party apps that can help with that.

It's appalling that we are expected to fix the phone ourselves when it is clearly not our fault. I'd suggest that you invoice vodafone for your time.

I agree. It's near impossible to complain.
Their arrogance is breathtaking. As I've noted before if my car breaks the dealer apologises profusely and fixes it. Vodafone seem to think I should fix my phone myself when they send me a defective version of android.
Their website is frequently down and even when it's working it is far from helpful.

Dumping them is my plan too.
Truly appalling customer service.

I have finally performed a Factory Reset over the weekend after backing up the various apps and files from the handset.
As an extra precaution, I noted down the important contact phone nos etc..from my contacts list just in case.
Here are the pros and cons after the Factory Reset, now the handset had been in use for 3 days:
Pros
1. The issue of not able to consistently connect to a wifi signal seems to have resolved.
Like before the OS upgrade, handset now operates as before, connecting to my home wifi when it is within range when I get home (see my earlier post on this thread).
2. Apps when touched are now recognising immediately, they were slow to react after the OS upgrade.
3. Factory Reset, inc the backup of apps & files, was relatively quick to perform, approx 60mins from beginning to end.
4. Gave me the opportunity to remove apps that I don't use, freeing up space.
Note: If you do want to sell / donate the handset come future upgrade, performing Factory Reset again would reinstall back these deleted apps.
Cons
1. Still drains the battery far quicker than before the previous OS.
This may be due to all the apps have now updated and constantly running live connections. Will be checking & disabling those that are unnecessary & rarely used.
2. My bill this month has increased by £15 due to the extra usage of mobile data when handset was not able to connect to wifi due to issue (see my previous post in this thread).
There were other non financial costs incurred such as being inconvenienced and not able to use the handset when the battery drained quicker than expected when out.
My whole experience of this saga is the poor customer services offered from Voda. OS was pushed out with no proper UAT testing, resulting in end users having major basic usage issues. Then left to the end users to find solutions to fix the problems themselves.
