SS1 Still not working

marti
4: Newbie
My SS1 went down last week, I assume as part of the outage. So far it is still not working. I have rebooted it a number of times, rebooted my router, and changed the location of the SS on the manage page of the website - is there anything thst can now be done to get it up and running again? Last time it went down the only advice I was given by calling 191 was to buy a new one! Serial number is 21222164879

marti,

Having been round the houses like you,

Have you got a 12v 1.5a or 12v 2a power supply hanging around?

Seems from other posts on this site it is not uncommon for the power supplies do go out.

They have enough amp output to purely establish a connection as your tracert shows, but not enough to power 3G.

On the advice of Matt_B I changed mine and was up and running in 15 mins.

Good as gold since!

If you have one, try it.

Best of luck.

Grateful if I could have some assistance from the tech team . I have 4 vodafone contract phones in the house and no signal between them - I am paying over £100 per month to vodafone for no service - not best pleased to say the least!! Renewal/upgrade is coming up soon been with vodafone for about 10 years - may not be for much longer!!

Hi hsb187 and marti,

Which router are you using?

Have you ensured that the IPSEC has been enabled?

If you’re unsure on how to do this, please contact your internet service provider.

Cheers,

Laura

Hi, using bt router and SS1. Worked perfectly up until the outage, now just won't connect. BT have checked and everything is working as it should be from their end

Hi hbs187

An update to my earlier posts which may be relevant to you.

My problems started like you, with the outage.

I too was on BT with a HH5.

Light sequence was exactly the same.

Could not get it to work.

Support suggested trying on another ISP, which we did via an Asus router.

Made no difference.

Power supply was diagnosed, so we changed it. (I robbed my external drive PSU)

Worked within 15 mins.

A couple of days later I re installed on my BT router and again, it worked within 15 mins with no settings changed at all.

I do not even have port claming set on my HH.

Power supply is 12v 1.5 or 2 amp. Really cheap on ebay.

Worth a try

Cheers

Yaaaaaay all working. Vodafone pushed through some new software and it's working fine.
Ring 191 and ask them to do it.
Good luck

Hi,

All these posts sound SO familiar.

I also have a BT HH5 & my Sure signal 1 has suddenly stopped working this is a nightmare as we have very poor/non existent Vodaphone signal strength in the village we live in.

The power light stays on & steady with no other lights on, then the second light starts to flash slowly then stays lit, then the forth light starts to flash slowly for a minute or so at which point all of the lights go out then the power light comes back on and the whole process starts again.

I have followed the Trouble shooting directions including changing Ethernet cable  rebooting umpteen times the only thing i was unable to find/change was the MTU settings.

Thanks for the total lack of support yet again vodafone!! I followed bazza's advice & got another new power supply (second new one in just over a month!) and my SS is now up and running - I'm still 100% sure this was caused by the outage - no apology or offer of compensation of any kind. Just a good job some of the other posters on here are helpful!

Hi marti,

Great that you are up and running again.

I know only too well whet that feels like.:smileyhappy:

However, I disagree with your comments regarding the forum and its team.

It was excellent help fom Matt_B one of the administrators that got me going and gave me the insight to both what they have to deal with and the various problems encountered.

They have hundreds of posts to deal with

The idea of a forum is to pool ideas and resources.

I might have been wrong, you could have needed a forced software upgrade like Kendo who's SS had the same symptoms.

Personally speaking, I thing the forum and the help given is great, which is why I have taken the tiime to respond.

Great Forum in my opinion
