Samsung galaxy s5 unable to connect to network

I received my new phone and new sim yesterday and I tried to activate it and I went through all the sim swap online and it still isn't activated yeah, it is just saying emergency calls only and when I try to connect to the network (Vodafone UK) it just says "unable to connect, try later"

That sounds like an activation issue.  The first step would be to re-do it.   I always use Live Chat (see Contact Us at the bottom of the page) as it seems to be the quickest option and I'm usually up and running before the session's finished.

Yes i would activate it online but i need a vodafone mobile number which they not provided me with one

If you put the SIM in the phone and enter *#100#, the number should be displayed.  Or you can talk to Live Chat, who should be able to locate your from your name and address and tell you your number as well as activate the SIM.  All those details should be in a Welcome email, so check your spam folder if you haven't seen one (though there do seem to have been issues in realtion to these as well).

i never got a welcome email and it has been 2 days now and still nothing (not even in my spam folder) they couldn't help me on the live chat and it got put through to the resolve team and said it'll take 24 to 48 hours and then it should be activated

My new samsung galaxy 5 mini arrived yesterday. I filled in the form to switch the sim from old to new phone at 10.25pm yesterday. The email said the switch would take 24 hours. I have been unable to use either phone all day. Both phones say emergency calls only. Some help ASAP would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I've never had any luck with online switching.   Try talking to Live Chat (Contact Us at the bottom of the page) amd asking them to do it.  I always do it that was as it seems the quickest and most reliable.
