Slow Mobile Broadband

Hi,

I have just purchased new laptop, running windows 7 and purchased mobile broadband from vodafone and the speed is apalling. Extremely slow browsing. The website states I have excellent coverage for 3G for my postcode but unable to connect. Downloaded mobile connect v 9.4 to work with Windows 7.

I have a green light on dongle and connecting up to GPRS ok. Have tried various rooms in the house and tried upstairs near a window and also outside of the house but unable to connect.

Please assist . . as GPRS speeds unsuitable.

Many thanks

Hi Georgie04

First allow me to welcome you officially to the Vodafone eForum you're part of the family now :D

Have you tried switching the settings within the USB dongle so it only connects to a 3G signal so you can test that you do have a strong 3G connection?

This can be done by selecting settings > network preferences and then select 3G only and let us know what happens, as this should then force your dongle to only connect to a 3G signal and improve your speeds :D

Let us know how you get on and we'll be in touch if further assistance is needed : D

Thanks
Matthew

Thanks for you reply. I'm using v 9.4 and do not have Network Preferences listed under settings. Unable to find this option when looking through software. I have checked View, Available Mobile Connections and I can only find GPRS for Vodafone, although 3G connections for other networks are showing.

Please advise.

Cheers
