Hi
The phone should just accept the contract SIM card in the Payg phone. You shouldn't have to do anything else.
Did you buy the phone direct from Vodafone or an auction site may I ask.
Check the sim is seated properly and give it a wipe with a soft cloth. Check nothing like lint is in the phones sim tray.
As a process of elimination can you try your sim in another phone just to ensure your SIM card has not become faulty.
If the SIM card works ok in another phone then if this was my situation I would look to be returning it under the 30 day faulty phone terms.

Hi @maxracer
I suspect your only problem here is the SIM card. Sometimes the SIM works perfectly in an a phone and as soon as you change phones, there are problems with the SIM.
Your best option here is to go into a Vodafone Store, let them take a look at the SIM and phone. If necessary, they will give you a replacement SIM and transfer the number to the new SIM.
You will need to change the apn settings from PAYG to contract on the phone.

Once you've got the phone to recognise the SIM, you should get a message offering you the APN settings. If you don't, texting WEB to 40127 should pull them down. However, if you're going into a Vodafone shop anyway, you can ask them to do this for you.
Some problems are difficult to diagnose at a distance and having the phone in your hand often makes the solution abundantly clear, so this is the best course of action in this case.
