Solid red light, no other lights

Hello,

I posted in this thread a couple of months ago:

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Version-3-VSS-Power-flashing-Internet-solid-oran...

Now, my Sure Signal has started displaying a new fault. The red light is solid, and no other lights are showing. This isn't covered in your helpful guide to the different error conditions:

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Version-3-Sure-Signal-Troubleshooting/td-p/13933...

Switching the Sure Signal off and then on again doesn't do anything, and it's been like this for a couple of days now.

What can I do to fix this?

With thanks in advance,

Tom

Hi folks,

TomCatchsides - Is everything working OK now? It can take up to an hour to come back online fully.

Frazer - Your unit failed to download an update back in September which is why you're seeing this. I've manually pushed the update out to you so could you do a reset to complete the action? Remember to give it an hour or so to come back online.

Cheers, Ben

Hi I have been experiencing the same issue. This has been the case for a few weeks now. I have even had it switched off for over a week in the hope it reconnects when I plug it back in, but no joy. This hasn't been the only issue I've had with this device. Considering the amount of money spent this quality of device is unacceptable.

Hi there,i have recently had this problem and the broadband speed was low,now i have changed providers the broadband speed is alot faster :Smiling:

speed download 6.86mbps

upload 0.38mbps

ping 76ms

seriel number 40131557866

i hope you can help.thanks Alan

Hi Alan,

Your download speed and ping test are fine.

Your upload speed is close to the minimum that the Sure Signal needs to maintain a connection to our servers.

Do you have any other devices such as a PC/laptop that use the connection?

If you do, can you disconnect them from the network and see if this helps?

Also, check to make sure the following ports are open/forwarded on your router:-

Port Number

8          TCP      UDP

50         TCP      UDP

53         TCP      UDP

67                     UDP

68                     UDP

123                   UDP

500                   UDP

1723     TCP      UDP

4500                 UDP

33434 - 33445    UDP

Another thing to try would be a different Ethernet cable between your router and Sure Signal.

Can you also post a traceroute please?

VSS Traceroute command

On a PC:

Click on Start and select Run
Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
A black box will appear.
In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
Paste the output of this command into your reply.

Let me know how you go on.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Andy,here's the trace route.thanks.Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks, your traceroute looks ok.

Please could you let me know if you’ve tested what Andy asked on his previous post?

Thanks,

Gemma

Hi Gemma,i've changed the cable to a new cable but that's all.Alan

Hi Gemma,i've just had a look at the sure signal and the internet light is flashing and the red light is on thayis the only thing differant.Thanks.Alan

Hi,my sure signal box still is not working, can you please help.thanks.Alan

Hi AlanHastings,

Check the Ethernet lights where the cable is plugged into the Sure Signal. Are they lit, flashing or off?

Also, try plugging the cable into a different socket on the router. If you have one you know works with another device, try that one.

Dave

Hi Dave, just tried the ethernet cable into a diffrent port they have a solid yellow light with the green one flashing beside it,now its just a solid red light on the suresignal.Alan
