I now have done every test possible, first checking with my ISP on port opening and 100% guarantee that all ports are left open, second bought brand new router incase of problems amking sure ports 50,500,4500,8,123,1723 TCP+UDP are open, finally talking endlessly with Vodafone who have done remote access to my computer, doing 'pings' and 'tracert', the net result was that I was told there were too many high digets 100-200 therefore to much traffic, was then told that my sure signal will never function because of this fact. What is so frustrating is that the earlier sure signal (1) worked, then packed up, so a new one sent out. Since then nothing, and with 4 people in the house on Vodafone contract we are now rarely able to use the phone and for sure no 3G. Now I know Sure Signal is never guaranteed to work!

Kay
I did as you asked, the SS£ was left for 4 hours at a friends house plugged into their router and the same thing, red power light on and next to it the internet connection slowly flashing. It is now back on my router and is doing the same.
What do I do next to have my 3G restored?????
Yours extremely patiently

Hi David,
The light sequences that you saw at both houses show that the Sure Signal was being configured.
The process can take up to 6 hours to complete and if interrupted will then start from scratch again.
I’ve checked your serial number today and can see it connected to our servers last night at 21:36, is everything now working correctly for you?
Thanks,
Andrew

The current story is that, I took the SS3 to a friends house and then brought it back, and during the night it created a signal so that this morning my wife and I (I had entered her number yesterday) both had a signal allowing us to make calls. If you refer to my previous problems with SS2, I did the same, went to a friend and when back home it had done something in the SS memory and I was getting a signal, but at this time could not get my wife a signal. This then turned into all the trouble and the signal was then lost and for weeks we had nothing and VF replaced the SS2 for SS3. Now it seems the same, this morning - good signal, had to put the SS3 into a new power socket (the place where it usually is) and the signal went. It is now 3-4 hours since put in the correct place and still is trying to get a signal, did a reset but always the same, just flashing internet signal. One thing I did when the signals were working was to check my upload speed and this was 1.0Mbps so it clearly was working at this speed, and with further conversations with the people that sent me the information that you would have read in the previous post my speeds are good to average for the UK, so the 1.5 is not correct (I would be interested to see official Vodafone confirmation of this speed issue!!).
So currently power on and flashing internet icon.

Hi davidtremlett,
Could it be that the positioning of the Sure Signal itself is the cause? When you move it to another location in your home does the connection return?
Also if your unit is receiving software updates when you test it on alternative connections that could point to a restriction with your current ISP.
Cheers, Ben

Did you read my post yesterday, (I can't see it here) but I wrote how I have now a signal, both my wife and I can use SS3, this was achieved by going to a neighbour and leaving for 30 mins then bringing home and after 1 hour it was working. This I have done before with the same result but if I reset or even change the power socket (so it is off for 2-3 mins) then it goes back to just a power light and flashing internet icon. And if I then go to the neighbour put in their router come home it works. I am now with signal, and I know if I were to change the power source or reset or I think even get you to resync, then it would be flashing away and never connecting. This has been my honest experience now and in the past. I do believe there s a memory malfunction in the SS which can only be cleared, not by me resetting but physically taking to another router, it's not my router or ISP because it is working 'for the moment' fine!! Also the claim that you need 1.5 Mbps is totally incorrect, I currently have 9.2 down and 1.01 up and have had for 12 hours, this is the average for the UK.

Hi davidtremlett,
This could be happening for a number of reasons including something in your router stopping the initial setup procedure.
This can often be a security setting or a port issue.
As you are now up and running I am reluctant to do any more digging around unless it stops again.
In regards to the speeds, the 1.5Mbps refers to your minimum required download speed although this will work with anything over 1Mbps.
You then need a minimum upload speed of 0.3Mbps.

Thanks for the reply, I was deffinitely told and here is the post that 1.4 upload was the minimum speed:

IS THIS REALLY TRUE VODAFONE??
So currently it works at last !
If there is something stopping the initial setup, this should be something Vodaone should look into as it certainly caused me a couple of months real headache and from what I am reading on the forum, others have similar problems. Also when more serious problems like this occur when we phone your tekkies there should be a way to get to the 2nd Line Technical Team (or higher) immediately and not spend 10 minutes going through people who often are not trained to handle more complex questions, so please pass this on to management.
I will confirm a complete fix to the problem in the coming weeks, when stability is permanent.
Till then good luck everybody with SS!!

It has been a roughly a month since writing and I would like to update you on the status of the SS3, What has been happening very consistenly is that the SS£ works for 3-4 days then the Red power light flasheswith the internet icon yellow, I then reset and things go back to working, this may happen 2-3 times then it stops working, thus power light on and internet slowly flashing, trying to contact. So, I take the SS3 to a neighbours router it gets going and I bring it home and it works. Then the same scenario occurs (as described above). This now is the 3rd time I have had to do this operation in the last month. I strikes me there is a bug in the SS3 that Vodafone should solve (just like all apps have bugs this I believe is the case with SS. If it's working through my computer and router and they are completely steady, it is the SS3 that looses its signal and seems not to regain it.
Thoughts anybody

Different.
But why does it work for a week or so, this means it is passing through my ISP correctly if there was a problem with the ISP then it would not enter at the beginning?
There is something in the SS that needs a clean or reboot by putting onto another router, and if this is not the case and you say it is the ISP tell me exactly what it is please.
