Sure Signal V1 stopped working

Hello

We've been having problems with our sure signal v1 for a couple of weeks now.

I've tried various resets from the trouble shooting guide and at 1 point thought I'd solved it when

the sure signal began to go through the start up procedure but would only have the Power and @ LED symbol

illuminated and the tick symbol would flash.  When it couldn't complete the start up the sure signal would then go through that start up procedure all over again.

Its currently wont go through the start up procedure and only has the power symbol lit.

We live in a rural area and without the sure signal get get no service at all. HELP!!!!!!!!!

It is a sure signal 1 serial no. 21224339412

Dowload speed 16.14 mbps

Uplaod speed 4.05 mbps

Ping 39 ms

Done the tracert like others have been asked for.

It seems your ISP is BT...   hmmm.  Traceroute - once a stalwart of the internet community, is an unreliable test these days with so many network operators effectively firewalling this type of transit, as it is widely used by hackers (along with ping) to find weakenesses in network firewalls. It behoves device makers and operators like Vodafine to come up with some better better diagnostics for this type of situation, but don't hold your breth.

Back in the early days of microcomputing we used to tell customers whose livlihoods depended on some aspect of a micro setup that they were buying, that the best advice was to get two of all the critical path items and thereby always have a backup to compare with.

An SS costs ~£100 and although you shouldn't need to, you will waste £100 arguing the toss, so just get another one and then when both fail to peform, you can finger the DSL provider with some confidence. BT are always worth suspecting anyway 😉 There is some discussion here about the BT HomeHub devices being suspect - and given these things can be updated remotely there is a chance this has happened to your HH.  Again, better device diagnostics are really needed from Vodafone.

If you feel a second SS is not avoiding the VF part of the the critical path, then 3 also offer a home signal device and you can get a cheap PAYG backup SIM or phone if it is a critical service where you live.

@George23

The light sequence indicates that the Sure Signal is updating.

I noticed that a location change has been detected, this may be something your ISP has done so I've reset his for you as well.

If you're still experiencing difficulties, it would appear that the Sure Signal has developed a fault and a new one would need to be purchased.
