Sure Signal V2, flashing lights

mikeclough
4: Newbie
We have had our Sure Signal for a couple of years and it has been mostly trouble-free. Recently we have been unable to use our mobile phones (No Service) and both the 'system' and 'phone' lights flash continuously. In the past I have had success doing a 30 second reset, but this is not doing the trick this time. What do the flashing lights signify?

Hi mikeclough,

The light sequence you’re seeing suggests that the Sure Signal is downloading a new profile.

I can see that it did connect to the server again this morning, are you still having trouble?

James

Hi James,

Thanks for your help. Yes, still having trouble. The Sure Signal seems to work intermittently. Most of the time it displays flashing system and phone lights. Then it settles down and is useable for a while, then back to flashing lights again. Could it be that my broadband speed is too slow? We've been having some issues with variable (slow) internet recently. Having said that, usually when I do a speed check it comes out around 2.5 - 3.5 Mb/sec, which I would have thought was fast enough.

Hi mikeclough,

That light sequence shows it's connecting, updating, working for a while, then dropping the connection and starting all over again.

The tests above look OK, but if you're seeing your speed dropping at times, re-run one when it's low and post the results.

I'd also speak with your service provider so they can check for any issues causing the poor speeds.

Dave

Since starting this post I have changed ISP from NewNet to BT and installed a BT Home Hub 4 wi-fi router. Now the Sure Signal does not connect at all, ever.

Hi mikeclough,

Thanks for letting us know you’ve now changed your internet provider.

As you’ve now changed this, can you deregister and re-register your Sure Signal so that it goes through the setup procedure on the new router?

James

Yesterday I de-registered and re-registered my Sure Signal V2 as you advised. It very quickly connected to Vodafone and my wife's phone connected to it. Unfortunately about an hour later it was back to the same flashing lights that we had previously and is currently unuseable. I tried a reset but it made no difference.

Hi mikeclough,

Can you rerun the speed test and traceroute checks for me?

With the change of service provider, it will help to look over anything different on these.

Also, are you still seeing the drops in speed you mentioned you had with the old provider?
