Sure signal problem

Hi, I'm with Virgin Media (in the last few days) and my Suresignal won't work. Red light and first two white lights are on but no 3G signal. The device was connected to Sky broadband and worked fine (points to the problem i guess) but I just can't get it working with Virgin. I've set-up all the port forwarding, VPN settings etc on the router and carried out multiple resets on the Sure Signal and router and also re-registered the Sure Signal a couple of times,

Looking like a Virgin Media issue, but advice welcomed.

Tracert to www.bbc.co.uk will work with a couple of timeouts.

Everything is in place for the Sure Signal to work and this is also indicated by the lights you're seeing.

Please ensure the IPSEC option is ticked on your router settings for Virgin Media connections.

Yes, all that was in place.

Seems to be working now, at least for my telephone number. Seems to be taking a long time to register other handsets but is definitely working for the first one.

Not working again now. Looking forward to May when i can change provider and get a proper signal instead of this rubbish. Vodafone and Virgin Media is a toxic combination. Next time i have £70 spare I might shred it, would be more satisifying.

@dayko_uk

When you got your line from Virgin, did they mention anything about a period of instability following the installation?

I’m with Sky and I remember there being a period of 14 days, where the speeds and connection were unstable, while they tested the line.

Do Virgin Media do similar? As this could be the reason for the instability of the Sure Signal.

I'm going to put it down to that. Not a Vodafone issue, i'm pretty sure of that fact. It worked Saturday afternoon to last night and now won't connect again. I'm guessing the connections are dropping out.

All broadband providers cover themselves with that statement, but the Sky broadband I had temporarily when I moved in worked perfectly. I'll give it another few days. There are loads of posts on the Virgin websites about their instability and problems.

Thanks.
