Sure signal v2

Hi I'm a contract customer and left vodafone last week, I pac coded my number over to a different network. I now want to sell my sure signal on eBay but a watcher has informed me I need to get the box deregistered. I rang vodafone and the man told me that I needed the person I was selling this to, to be in th same room so I could give permission for the Vodafone man to register the new owner with their details - pretty hard if I sell it to someone on the Isle of Man! Can someone tell me of any other way to deregister this sure signal please
