Hi - I have just checked my experian credit report and out of nowhere an incorrect vodafone default has popped up from 2014. It is showing as settled but still is a default. I check my credit report every 3 months so I have no idea how this has popped up after nearly 4 years. I had cancelled my contract in 2014 and paid my last bill. A few months later i got a call from a collection agency saying that i had an amount from vodafone that needs to be paid or the account will be defaulted. I contacted VF who said they could do nothing as the debt had been passed on but as long as i paid off the debt it will not come up as a default. Today out of no where this default has popped up on my experian credit report eventhough i was provided assurity by the collection agent and VF that no default would be shown on the account as long as i agreed to pay the outstanding amount which i did. I NEVER received my LAST BILL and hence I never knew that I had an outstanding amount to pay. Now this is causing some serious stress in my life as i was planning to take out my mortgage.
Can someone please help on this matter urgently. Who can i complain to. When I try calling the customer services line the system doesnt recognize my phone number and so i cannot speak to anyone. Please help!!!

If an account has defaulted to the extent of a Debt Collection Company being involved then in my experience this can and will be recorded on a persons Credit File by Vodafone @hammadahmad
They are not even required to pre warn a person before applying a Default.
What we usually see is a person cancels their contract but then cancels their Direct Debit too fast before everything can be settled and a £0 bill and sorry your Leaving letter issued.
These types of defaults last 6 years from the default date. Its status changing from Outstanding to Settled like in your case.
Please let the Social Media Team here who read all posts catch up with your post and I'm sure they'll help you with this situation if they can.

Thank you for your reply. The issue is that i never received a notice or a final bill or a reminder or any sort of communication telling me that I have to pay X amount. So there was absolutely no way for me to know if I had any outstanding balance. hence, i only found out from the collection agency. Now the default is showing from vodafone not from the collection agency. And also, the debt has showed up after almost 4 years. This was not even on my credit file when i last checked 3 months ago.
