As an existing customer I was expecting fair play service of the advantage move to newer cheaper contracts. Beware this is not an option with Vodafone.
I have about 12 month left and requested a change to the new 55Mb minimum speed contract.
I can only have it if I pay a penalty , which I believe is unfair.
So I will not be renewing my contract when it expires.
And will not provide good feedback as a result

Why is it unfair? You agreed a contract, you are hardly likely to be able to change to a cheaper one. Many ISPs have introductory offers which are not available to existing customers.

This sort of posting comes up from time to time. As customers we agree a contracted price and we should be prepared to pay that price for the duration of the contract. If a cheaper contract comes on the market Vodafone will not allow us to swap to that tariff and I see no reason why they should or why we should get upset when they don't.
If you are employed doing a job and someone else is prepared to do it for less money, would you accept your employer telling you that they are going to reduce your salary?
For the record Vodafone offers the same prices to new and existing customers, which I think is the right policy. Compare that the BT and other ISPs who offer far lower prices to new customers than existing ones. I recently had cause to complain to BT about that when they refused to lower my out of contract price to that of a new customers. It's a poor policy. Vodafone has it right in that respect I believe.

To add another POV to this.
I had 6 months left of my contract to run and wanted to upgrade to the 76mb. I had noticed that the 76mb price was on offer at £24 a month, compared to the £25 a month I was paying for 38mb. And I got a free Sonos at the start of contract - so I didn't think for a minute they would entertain upgrading me and ultiamtely charging me less.
But lo and behold, after a bit of faffing, it was agreed. Whether that's because I was already 12 months into my contract I'm not sure but it's definitely do able.

I agree that you should always ask for something but not to get so irritated if you don't get something you aren't entitled to get.

Ive got better whilst in contract with previously with Plusnet and Origin, but not with Vodafone,. Oh well so be it but I don't agree with that decision.
Companies introduce low deals to get customers to replace ones that left because of the increase at end of intro deals. It's a vicious circle that they dont realise.
But if they looked after existing customers better then they'd stay and recommend others.
I been told it'll cost me £230 to which I'm seriously considering due to other problems I have with vodafone.

All customers should have right to ask for the best deal, O2 allowed me to upgrade my contract to have 5gb data instead of the 3gb for the same money

And Vodafone would allow that as well and I've done things like that. What they won't do is allow you to move to a contract that has a lower monthly costy to it.
