Update about a security patch update for s7 edge may

Hi

I've just read on GSM ARENA that Samsung have started to roll out a security update in a software update in Europe (not sure if we will be include with state of things at minute or next in lin 😉)

also with with general bug fixes file size

626 mb

Although i am so im not sure how accurate that site is.but I have heard it mentioned a few times.

It does tie in with what

BANDOFBROTHERS was saying,

About quarterley updates.

Although he did say if I recall

That you can  never be 100% sure as they don't release info about updates.

Note

I came across this  whilst searching for security about  the security for s7 edge so I'm not sure if true that includes other devices.

Finally got my update to to may today.

It seems the trend is on a quartaly basis and not monthly from what I've seen so far.

to be fair though I've not seen it in black and white about monthly updates so I'm not 100% sure about that one

The update was 360 mb and I've not noticed any difference.

it's probably optimising inside (I hope )

As any one else received this update and noticed any improvement in there device

I have a S7 EDGE on contract

Edit

Just found out I have WiFi calling at last

So all my visits into town to my local shop were a waste of time on my days of and as I don't have a car it's quite a trek

Would of been nice if some one would of just said if you don't get Wi-Fi calling after next update then contact us would of saved loads of time and head aches

But at least I've got it finally

Just got to figure out how to use it now

When your out and about does it scan other people's Wi-Fi or is there a mobile Wi-Fi just for Vodafone

I just got the May Update but havent noticed anything different either.

With Wifi Calling, it activate if you are on Wifi and bad reception area.   So it come up when i am on the tube and connected to Underground wifi.  I have to connect it to wifi and doesnt connect automatically.

Hi Skyman513,

My S7 Edge connects to BT wi-fi but that's just because I have an account with them so I just kept it open and use that for wi-fi calling.

If I remember rightly I think Vodafone has there own WiFi for this and you need to be signed into

your Vodafone account to access this it may be worth checking with the Vodafone support team and asking them. If you have turned on the WiFi calling in the phone settings and in an area with a bad reception you should see a phone with the WiFi symbol above it in the notification area

Thanks for that as I don't have access to Wi-Fi so will keep an eye out for it when there is no signal

If that's how it works i am curious if it would work on one bar.

I live in Blackpool and at weekend and especially holidays I have to force my phone down to  3g as everyone seems to come here and you can tell how busy it is just by signal strength it's quite amazing that Vodafone manage to keep everyone connected as on a sunny holiday this place gets absolutey packed

As for the update I have been using it for a few days now and I am noticing an improvement in the way the device operates seems smoother when scrolling pages and when I install different themes they look different and better than before my only concern is I managed to get my battery usage to a day and now I have to top up each day (I'm comparing this to other users who say they are power users and get a day and a half at least)

I do use my phone a lot for browsing all sorts of forums and I only have 4 apps and i stop them when finished and the ones I downloaded I put to sleep in device maintenance and I listen to SPOTIFY.but you don't need screen on for that and I can use my gear fit 2 to slip tracks

So my only option could be having Bluetooth on constantly as it keeps my phone unlocked and I'm always out and about.

Does any one have a rough idea how much power consumption Bluetooth user from a single charge as it doesn't show up in my battery usage bizarrely.

@SKYMAN513 Using Bluetooth has a little effect to the battery, but it may be best to test this for a more definitive answer :smileyhappy:

Hi thanks I should of give it more time your post has just reminded me a device needs to settle after an update

And today I have had my gear fit deactivated from my device and there is noticeable difference as I use it quite a lot even in my flat I control Spotify with it so now you have made me see it different and actually I am probably comparing to people who don't use it as much as I do (a lot) I am going to have to start taking what I read with a pinch of salt if there is no evidence

My latest panic that I have read is that using the fast charge on my S7 EDGE

Shortens the battery lifetime but that was a Qualcomm statement and we have the exynoss variant but I suppose logically thinking I would be surprised if it didn't have any impact

But they did say by the time you notice any difference you are more than likely to upgrade any how. And after 2 years it  should only lose 20%

My OCD makes me a pain in the bum sometimes so apologies for worrying about little issues that most people accept.

some times I worry that I've got nothing to worry about 🤡

See you've set me off on one again😉

Thanks for reply

Hi Skyman513,

The best thing to do is not to worry about anything you have a good phone and it will update as and when they are released, l only check mine manually every few weeks or so as there never released on time anyway more to the point just sit back and relax and enjoy your phone.

Have a good day

Stevie
