I have a new Dell Inspiron Mini 10 with the Ubunto OS. I visited a store in Edinburgh where the staff was kind enough to let me try a TopUp and Go USB Modem Stick before purchasing. When inserted in the USB port the device was recognized, a screen for configuration opened and then the stick got a blue light which I understand indicates its working. However, the connection icon on the Mini continued to rotate without establishing a connection. When the cursor was scrolled over the icon, a window popped up stating it was dialing. I opened the browser but received a message stating I was not connected.
Is there a way to make this work? This is my first netbook with an OS other than Windows.
Thanks.

I would suggest that you head on over to Betavine, and download Vodafone Mobile Connect Card driver for Linux - you should be able to follow the guide for the Dell Mini 10, and have it up and running in no time at all.
A flashing blue light indicates that you have 3G coverage (light blue = HDSPA) - it doesn't mean anything in terms of correct settings etc. However, a solid blue light means that you have established a connection.

Neil,
Was able to access Betavine this morning and it was very easy to install. Will now head to the Vodafone store to get a stick and see if it works. I really appreciate your easy to understand guidance and will post another reply to let you know the results.
David,
I checked the Dell software disk and it shows Ubunto 8.04 LTS. Clicking About Ubunto on the mini also shows 8.04. Update Manager shows the system is up to date. If you have other recommendations, please let me know.
Thanks all!
