Version 3 Sure Signal (Power - flashing, Internet - solid orange, In Service - off, In Use - off)

This thread's been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

 

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Solid Orange
  • In Service: Off
  • In Use: Off

 

Cause

 

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

 

Troubleshooting

 

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

 

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

 

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

 

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

 

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

 

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

No respone from the tech tem this morning. I'm guessing with som many posts with the same problem it's a Vodafone problem

Would anyone from Vodafone like to respond to this forum before I write to your CEO about poor customer service and contempt for your customers? 

It would me nice if Vodafone actually just acknowledge their customer's concerns! We all understand there are issues with systems, but just a bit of help would be nice when things go wrong. A lot of us have businesses that depend on the services provided by your company, please don't ignore us.

Like many people yesterday my SS dropped out and from bitter experience I have learnt the best support comes from the community and having a forum subscription setup, and by lunch time 30 posts more than indicated it was a VPhone problem and not my SS.

 

Have to say it is an appalling situation when fee paying customers have to rely on each other for customer service and support and the provider on face value is nowhere to be seen.

 

My SS is up and working again but for how long who knows, the common theme through the post is about customer service from VPhone, so if nothing else will the Tec Team please respect the request of paying customers and look at and respond to the suggestions made.

I have the Homehub 5 and it's wifi is much better than the HomeHub 3. It is also rock stable with VSS3. I had massive problems with the HomeHub3 and VSS3, which were only solved when I changed to HomeHub5. The HomeHub3 worked fine with VSS1, but that box died.

Does HH5 work with BT ADSL Broadband? The BT website suggests that box is for Infinity - not available here.

Hi You will have to ask BT that.  I can see no reason it should not in that it directly replaced the HomeHub3 I used to use for ADSL before I went to Infinity.  On their website they seem to reserve HomeHub 4 for ADSL and HomeHub5 for Infinity.  Sorry I cannot be more helpful.  Vodafone did say to me that HomeHub4 as also compatible with VSS3.  You could always use HH4 and also install some WiFi extension units.

Vodafone sure signal boost error lights

Power: Flashing

Internet: Solid Orange

In Service: Off

In Use: Off

signal boost serial number - 40132124062  (2nd one as 1st one was faulty, this 1 has worked for 4 months and stopped yesterday.)

speed test - ping 418 ms,  download 2.17 mbps, upload 0.10 mbps

ping test - 455 ms ping, 152 ms jitter

ip address - 5.81.188.114

 

using a google chromebook and BT broadband Homehub 4 - BT broadband - unsure if able to fo vss traceroute?

 

initially solid red light and white flashig light trying to connect and then changes after a while to flashing red light and orange internet light, have reset and switched off etc...

It looks like something very strange is going on. Please respond and help us!

Since loging this fault at 1.50 pm today and having been out, I have got home and it is now working.. Unsure if this is a coincidence, or if Vodafone have re synced it, but at least it is working again!!
