This thread's been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Solid Orange
  • In Service: Off
  • In Use: Off

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here

  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Same here.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback.

We've seen some people saying it works like this and others saying it doesn't, so it's kind of a no-win situation either way.

Another one here.  I found I was holding the button for well over a minute like a lemon waiting for the lights to go out 😉

My connection has now dropped out twice in 24 hrs. Don't understand why it can go for a week or more before and now dropping out daily.

Hi djmaitla,

I can see that there’s been a location profile update detected so I’ve confirmed everything on the registration for you.

Can you let me know if you still see this happening and if you see any drops in your internet speeds at the time the unit drops out?

Other than that, it would point to the Home Hub 3 which should be resolved by using the Home Hub 4 as it does control internet traffic differently.

Hi James

I have excellent speed and connectivity.  Since my SSv1 worked flawlessly until it collapsed for several years and nearly two of those years with BT Homehub 3, I am inclined to the incompatiblity between the latter and SSv3.  May try to talk to BT to get an upgrade to Homehub 5, which they now offer with Infinity 2.

The next step has now been taken. Have ordered upgrade to BT HomeHub 5 that is now offered with Infinity 2. Hopefully this will see an end to our dropout problems. I guess that all the Vodafone Suresignal support team have their fingers crossed.

I have now replaced by BT HomeHub3 with the new BT HomeHub5, that is now available for BT Infinity 2 Users.  My Suresignal 3 unit connected without a problem and I have a good local Vodafone signal.  I am thinking positive,  that this connection will prove stable.  Time will tell.

Well, my experiment has had disappointing results.  It would appear that the stability of SSv3 with BT Infinity 2 and the BTHome Hub 5, is no better than SSv3 withBTHomeHub3.  I have just had to restart the SSv3 paired with BTHH5 as the above set of circumstances occurred after approx 36 hrs.  Disappointed. It looks as if there is a deeper issue that Vodafone need to address.

I am now very disappointed.  I am having great trouble getting the Suresignal device to make a stable connection.  More than ever now, I suspect that the problems lie at the Vodafone end of things.

I am now about to attempt for the 4th time in a few minutes to get the SSv3 device to boot up properly.

I re-iterate  very disappointed.
