Retired-Lee
Moderator (Retired)
Moderator (Retired)

This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue.

Working fine last night and have the symptoms of the title this morning.

I suspect that there is a problem on the Vodafone side.

As far as i am aware there is not a service checker to go and see if the Sure Signal service is having issues.

Thanks

Mine has not worked from day 1 over a month ago

HI

Not sure this is going to help all of you, or any of you for that matter,  but here goes......

I originally had my Sure Signal connected directly out to the internet bypassing our physical firewall and got the infamous flashing red and 2 solid orange lights., yesterday I unregistered the sure signal then reregistered it. I then plugged in the sure signal behind the filewall ( ie locally on our network which would force the Sure Signal to acquire a local ethernet address automatically) and waited for the the familar 1 red flashing and two orange solid lights. ( Actually I went home for the night)

This morning each time I got the flashing red and 2 solid orange sequence I reset the Sure Signal by holding down the reset button for 20-30 secs, and waiting . After 20 resets I've got Steady Red, Internet on steady white, In service on steady white and in use either off or on flashing when in use. (ie It was working)

I presume the Sure Signal finally tried a ethernet setting that was acceptable to my filewall and Vodaphone.

Alternatively the gods looked favourably on my poor tired soul.

It occurs to me if someones knows how to set a static ethernet address for the Sure Signal one could preset the Sure Signal and avoid all the resets.

Please be aware I am not anywhere near being an big expert on IT, and what I did was pure coincidence. So I am just passing on how I 've managed to get my Sure Signal to work, and I hope the solution works for you, but please don't shoot me if it doesn't.

Hi

I have had the V3 Sure Signal for just over three months, and it has been working just fine until this week. I haven't made any changes to the set-up, but it started to drop the signal intermittently and has now given up entirely. I have tried re-setting, turning it off etc, and it will occasionally try to pick up the first light, but the white light pulses and then reverts to the red light flashing, off, solid orange, solid orange.

I hope you can help. The information you request is:

Same for me this morning (17/12) - it's worked fine for the last three months. Not posting tech details as from the number of messages this would seem to be a Vodafone problem (and on the evidence of last time round will take ages to be sorted)

As per andrewtoo. Can Vodafone post whether theyare having problems?
