Moderator (Retired)
Moderator (Retired)

This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Hi Tech Folks

My Sure Singal suddenly stoipped working. I have reset it several times, but always get the same result. Which appears to show no internet connection.

I have changed the router ethernet connection, and see that at the Sure Signal end there is a green light on the connector. All other Broadband services are working normally.

Details requested are as follows:-

Ping 54 ms Jitter 2ms

Download 4.59 Mbps (great for Wales but not brilliant for the rest of the world!!)

Upload 0.37 Mbps

IP Address 91.125.205.56

Serial number 40132316312

Tracer details as follows. All after 8 time out as far as I can see.

Hi

VSS has been working fine fior the last 3 months but now I get the light sequence:

Version 3 VSS Lights (Power - flashing, Internet - off, In Service - orange, In Use - orange)

which seems to mean that the device has not registered iteself on your network.

I have followed your troubleshooting guide but the device is still unregistered.

It would help if Plusnet worked with Vodafone and made sure their IP addresses are all white listed with the Sure Signal people.

I have no problem using IPSec from my laptop to get into my employer's network so I do not think the problem is with IPsec traffic being blocked.

My Sure Signal is a V3.  Symptom is a rapidly flashing red power light and the two right hand lights are solid orange indicating that there is a lack of connection to the Vodafone Sure Signal Infrastructure.

Here is my tracert to Vodafone:-

My VSS 3 has stopped working for the last 36 hours. I have run through all the troubleshooting tips, reset the VSS numerous times, rebooted the router &c. Could you please check that the device has not been barred. I rarely use it for data, but it is essewntial to get a reasonable signal in a poor rural area.
