This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

LeeH

Hi Rykaro,

Can you confirm what router you are using as I can’t see this in any of your posts?

James

Hi James,

Quote: "If it helps, I'm using a Cisco ASA5505 and I have the inspect ipsec-pass-thru command added to my policy-map (which is mentioned elsewhere on the forum)."

Hope that helps.

Many thanks,

Hi there Rykaro,

Apologies James missed that information.

Have you tried the VSS on another connection such as a friend, relative or neighbours broadband connection? Is it possible for you to try another router?

Thanks,

LeeH

Thanks

Hi IanDaviesGMGB,

Thanks for the information you’ve provided, I can see that you had a resync of your device on 8/5/13.

Despite this, it’s still not showing as having connected to our servers since 1/5/13 at 09:25.

I’ve taken another look at your first post and the failure of the ping test does give an indication of a possible cause.

The test failure suggests that there is something preventing the Sure Signal from getting an internet connection.

I can see that you’ve opened certain ports on the firewall but the ping failure shows that there’s still an issue.

Do you have access to the firewall logs to see if they shed any light as to what’s been blocked?

Thanks,

Andrew

Andew,

pingtest.net won't work because port 8080 is blocked globally across the network.

we are seeing the following being dropped:

these IP addresses didn't appear in he document I was given some weeks ago, is this one of the sure signal IP addresses?

Hi, i'm still having problems with mine. i've reset and still no joy. are there any checks you can do from your end to see if the correct ports are open?

thanks
