If I get a sim only deal through Carphone with say a headset free chucked in. Can I still get the Advantage discount?.

My advice is to work out the cost overall from carphone warehouse with the deal they are giving and compare it to what Vodafone directly can offer with that extra discount. 

Bear in mind if you open up with carphone warehouse then your effectively their customer with Vodafone supplying the network connection.
